The Hall of Honor Candidates Are...

Was thinking maybe 3 in the inaugural class, but now thinking it's going to be more like 5-7.

Pep and Smitty are locks. After that, who knows.  Kind of hoping they keep it low and don't just induct "anyone", though. I mean, I love Moose for instance...but he doesn't belong in the Hall of Honor with three 1,000 yard seasons and 2 Pro Bowls in 11 years with us.

Kevin Greene that traitor SOB should not get in.

Besides the fact he stabbed us in the back he wasn't here long enough.

I agree. Played 3 seasons here, left for more money after his first season, and tried to strangle the DC on the sideline his 1st year back.

I think they do a class of 5. Peppers, Smith, Delhomme, Gross, and Kasay. I really hope they retire 89 and 90 and there is a clear distinction between them and the rest.

I might replace Jake with Jenkins.  Jake can wait a year or so.

Honestly, imo, Jenkins is the only guy I think is possibly out of place here.  At one point, he was the best DT in the league,  but it didnt last very long and then the relationship with the team soured FAST.

For those criticizing the possibility of Moose, I don't see why...  a 2x pro bowler and iirc, he won the receiving triple crown the season before he went to Chicago.  And then he came back and made things right again, much like Pep.  He grew into a great ambassador of our franchise.

The other guys - Kasay, Bates, Smitty, Jake, Walls, Greene, Gamble, Gross are all deserving, imo.  People keep saying it shouldnt be just anybody getting in, but keep in mind, the franchise is 24 years old now, and we're just now getting around to a hall/ring of honor...  10 players from 24 years isn't "just letting anybody in."  That's 10 total players out of over 1,200 minimum.  Those numbers would indicate these guys are pretty exceptional...  and tbh, out of the guys they're showing here, I can't think of any other players that would fit the criteria until guy from the currently active group retire (Cam, Luke, Olsen, TD), so it's not like we're about to flood the hall with countless guys.  Even after adding Cam, Luke, Olsen, and TD, that would take us to 14 total players, most likely at some point nearing our 30th anniversary...  still a clear line of dilineation as to their level of exceptionalism compared to their teammates.  I'm fine with this.

Only other guys I could possibly see them adding outside of who I mentioned and who is in the video would be Rucker, Mills (officially), and maybe Hoover.

I would definitely include Kalil in your list. And also have Minter, Stewart, and Charles Johnson as maybes.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
