Eric Reid said Panthers should sign Colin Kaepernick

Seriously, Kaep hasn’t played in three years and people here want him signed.

Yes.

As he certainly shouldnt have been not playing for those years.  He needs to be brought on to show he belongs in the NFL at least as a backup.

His agenda is to share dim opinions and hot takes of the lowest common denominator so that Nancies like yourself get their panties in a wad and cry about how much you hate their paper as you keep clicking refresh

Eric Reid says IF Cam is hurt badly, Kaepernick could and should definitely “come in and help us.” Again, he stressed the IF and said he hoped Cam was fine.

Kaep wants a starter position and not a back-up till Cam comes back but it seems Reid doesn't get that part. We have 4 QB's on the team including Cam so there is no reason to even attempt it. Kaep's last outing as a QB he was just slinging the ball all over the field and missing the mark on every erratic throw to receivers with noncatchable balls.

It’s an awful narrative being pushed. And they’re pushing it really hard the media, and that’s disturbing to me that that’s the trend here. He’s no more qualified than, say, Josh McCown. Thing is, McCown signed last week with Eagles.

I don’t disagree with some who say that he’s been blackballed, but I’m not interested in getting in the middle of that mess. I’m wanting to find the easiest path possible to the Super Bowl. Kaep doesn’t provide such an avenue.

If I thought he would provide requisite value, I wouldn’t think twice about it. Whoever’s fault it might be, it’s not my problem. He’s been out of the game for a few years now, and the last time he played football, he was benched for Blaine Gabbert. (Though Reid tried to correct the record on that, and the Panthers digital staff allowed him to do so)

Very interesting observation.

In theory if Kaep were signed he could come in and outplay Cam....

....if he does, Kaep should be made the starter.

How will this play with the fan base?

Is this a risk Tepper should and/or be willing to take?

I actually like this idea.

I didn't see NFL caliber backup talent on the field last night, so a vet backup is appealing. Kaep would most likely take a standard 1 yr. vet backup contract (at perhaps a small discount), and be seen as starter opportunity elsewhere in 2020. We would get a vet with a strong desire to play at a high level to backup QB1 who is strongly motivated every day to play at a high level.

As for the heaping helping of political issues, I would assume those who are zealots (whom I'll hear from shortly) would start supporting another team or sell their PSL's but I think that would be a small (but vocal) part of the fanbase. But it could well raise the national profile of the team to others who support Kaep's point, so I think the net is probably neutral  to +.

If Kaep never plays, it would be a footnote in the stat sheet, talked about in the A block of 'D' list sports shows for a week. Cam has the full respect of this team and will continue to be the leader, even if Kaep came in and played well for a stretch . Kaep, however will be looking for a team of his own, and that will be a team looking for a veteran leader in the 2020 off season. So I think 2019 Kaep would be good for both sides, which is the territory where deals can be made.

    • That's one of the most sober and honest breakdowns I've seen of Bryce.   That guys is being as real as can be.  No sugar coating, no tepidness to critique, blunt and straight to the point.
    • If you think someone shared some bad data on PFF (and falsely insulting your PFF) well....then you post the QB rankings and show where that  71.5 stacks week 1.   I don't pay for PFF and won't.  I just go off of what others say on PFF.
    • but it's pretty obvious, everyone who watches football simply knew....BY didn't outplay Trevor.   It just didn't happen.  And you didn't think it happened.  Because it didn't happen.  but, if you want to go back after the fact, slo mo film AND you just want things to of been better for Bryce?  Well, you can make that happen.   All you got to do is put on glasses and have the want.   You will find whatever you need.  Well, you know what....maybe he didn't botch that easy throw to Renfrow for a TD.  Maybe it was the pressure that forced a bad throw.  Everyone else could of been better.  It's really the OL that was bad.  Nothing he could of done now that I think about it.  Nevermind he could of just thrown it on time for an easy big play and the pressure wouldn't of existed....or the fact NFL QBs got to make it even with that type pressure.
