Let's be real, this game more or less turned out the way we should've expected it to. Offense that's overly reliant on McCaffrey, a defense generally lacking in big plays but plays pretty well in a bend but not break kind of way, and 1 or 2 boneheaded mistakes like say, an errant Cam pass that leads to a pick or Moore fumble, that ultimately was the difference. 

As far as specifics, our defense as a whole looked great up until the end of the game where I wonder if we were gassed. The Rams rarely sub players out on offense, not giving us much opportunity to keep our usual rotations to maintain fresh legs. We got gashed by runs that we had done a decent job containing earlier for the most part. But given how great their offense is, I was happy with the play overall. Bradberry's interception was unbelievable. 

Special teams was impressive. Hard to get too upset with a missed 53 yarder even though that ended up being the difference. Even the best kickers miss from 50+ half the time. Slye knocked the rest down the middle including another 50+ yarder, and yes, 2/2 xps. That blocked kick nearly shifted the entire game back to us. Ray Ray was solid in the return game.

McCaffrey is special. He's well on pace for his 1000 yard rushing/receiving season after today. Cam made good decisions overall and didn't hold onto the ball like he's prone to do. He was off on some throws but that's Cam. He's also coming off shoulder surgery and playing in his first real action in 9 months save for like 5 preseason passes. 

Let's not act like things turned out like the Falcons who got throttled by the Vikings or the Browns, who were supposed to be super bowl contenders but got destroyed even worse than Atlanta. We lost by 3 points to last year's NFC champions despite being -2 in turnover differential, with 4 fumbles that all went the Rams way (3 recovered by LA, the 4th being screwed by whatever that replay decided).

This is a team that should compete for a playoff spot if we can minimize mistakes and have some of those big breaks actually go our way for once. Before we collectively go doom and gloom and demand Ron and Hurney be fired and Cam cut, let's at least wait for the Bucs game.

I think we looked pretty good against a great team. TOs and early mistakes killed us but I feel good about the rest of the season

People on here really overreact. Acting like the season is over after the first half of the first game. Carolina only lost by 3 to a really good team and probably wins  if not for the 2 fumbles.

Also why does everyone lose their minds when run says missed opportunities?? He's going through the motions with the media because what he says to them is meaningless, what counts is what is said internally

All division wins are good/important regardless of who the opponent is.

Yeah win your division you are promised a spot in the playoffs. After this game though I'm not sure we can beat the Bucs or Saints.

Eh I don't put to much stock in the first game of the season. If we continue to lose or look like arse then I will start to worry.

I actually enjoyed myself watching this game. After watching my alma mater put up its worst start in 40 years, I was okay watching us play the defending NFC champs close. I’m in a real low place right now...moral victories are a thing in my life...
