Washington Square Park....NYC.

If any of you fancy yourselves as chess gurus, when you are in NYC head to the south-west corner of the park and you can find a chess game for whatever stakes you can handle (clearly low, stakes, in almost all cases)....

He was a unique talent that got by on athleticism alone for years, without honing his skills. Now the injuries are taking its toll and he has no base skill set to rely on. Sadly all he does at this point is try for shock value like an aging Madonna by wearing rompers and looking like a member of the Village People. His days are over

I can't agree with that.

The Cam Newton that I saw as a rookie wasn't as good a passer is the one I saw in his later years.

Now, it needs to be understood that Newton was never going to be a Drew Brees or Tom Brady type passer. He was always more in the Brett Favre mold and that's how expectations of him should be framed.

Quarterbacks like Brady and Brees are  sniper rifles. They can aim for a specific spot and hit it with deadly accuracy. Quarterbacks like Favre and Newton are shotguns. They'll hit the target but in a more scattershot fashion, sometimes dad on the money but sometimes "general vicinity". And while they'll throw the occasional "OMG" pass, they'll also mix in a "WTF" every once in a while.

If you watched Favre's career, over time he tightened up his "general vicinity" window a bit and improved his ratio of OMG to WTF.

Pre-injury, so did Newton.

Would we stumble upon AB playing chess there?
