D-Lewis talks Panthers on WFN

Said he’s not worried about the secondary, Panthers were loading the box and receivers were making plays.

Said Cam isn’t on the sidelines because the staff doesn’t want him there for health reasons. Only idiots have a problem with this.

Said he has changed his mind about Allen and if we win against the Bucs Ron should stay with him after the bye regardless of how Cam is doing.

Admitted he was wrong about CMC not being able to run between the tackles.. definitely a MVP candidate

Have any of the other analysts said that publicly? I don't remember hearing anyone else say it.

Only part I don't agree with (saw Steve Smith weirdly change his tune on this too).  It's like the Broncos keeping The Golden Calf of Bristol instead of going out and signing Manning because they went to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Sounds reasonable. We've all seen Cam get hype and run up and down the sidelines when he's not on the field. It would be hard to keep him from doing that and tweaking something, especially the way the team has been playing lately.

Smitty said the playbook is open more with Allen? Gotta disagree big time there.

Yeah, caught that.

There are definitely plays you run with Newton that you would not want to run with Allen (designed runs and such).

What Smitty is saying would indicate he thinks the flipside is also true, that there are plays Allen can run which don't work as well with Newton. You'd assume them to be pass plays because if it was just handoffs, hell anybody can do that.

I'd agree it's hard to imagine, though I grant that Steve Smith knows a lot more about the playbook than we do.

I tend to agree. I think the playbook has shifted but not necessarily opened.

Unless he was referring to the fact cam has been injured so there are certain plays that wouldn’t have been called because cam cant do them right now?

Possible.

Given the context that he's saying they might want to stick with Allen even if Newton comes back healthy though, that would make me think his statement isn't injury related. If it were, then it would stop being true once Newton was healthy again.

I think Smitty is in media mode. Healthy cam can make the same passes as Allen without a doubt. And cams last game he threw the ball almost 50 passes. So I don’t think they closed the playbook for him at all even with a bum foot. So I think him saying that is hyperbole.

what is kind of interesting is that he changes his tune after being in the building. He may have heard some rumblings from the org that this might be the case that we roll with allen until we lose or he shows he can’t manage the game anymore. I’m not sure what to think of that. I wouldn’t even say Allen is a hot hand anymore but I get winning streaks and vibes are real and you don’t wanna mess that up. But if Cam comes back 100% he definitely gives us the best chance to win purely from an ability standpoint. It’s gonna be realllllly interesting to see what happens.

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
