Schefter needs to cross that "source" off his list.

Here is how it can be positive:

Very early on in this process I had heard references in early articles that Cam's camp would be in favor of Cam shutting it down unless REALLY healthy given his contract status. If this is coming from his camp, it means that they believe he is healthy enough to have a season that will benefit him in a future contract negotiation; whereas, his play while injured was having the opposite effect.

Agreed that they must be confident if they are pushing for him to be back at practice 6-days from today.

That said, seems odd that 6-days ago his foot would be put in jeopardy by flying on an airliner and watching a game from the sidelines...

...but 6-days from now the foot will be 100% ready to absorb all the rigors of preparing to start in an NFL game?

Cam will play when he wants to play again. I can’t say this enough. The team didn’t pull him. He pulled himself. When he feel like he’s ready to go then he’ll play.

you've also said you read that between the lines.  that's not a source

i honestly think shelter got the info from a rappaport report where he said nothing and made some speculation.   so its shelter reporting on pure speculation from a guy who will say anything to try and 'break' a story.   that's what i think, but i like the soap opera-ness of this so i'll leave a little room for leaks from cams camp - but that doesn't really sound right.     when did cam get or need a 'camp'?

There is a very real competitive advantage being ambiguous about our QB situation. Following a bye would be the perfect time to bring Cam back if he's ready giving him two weeks to prepare as the starter. But who knows if he's ready? Best to keep the Niners guessing and put it on them as to which QB they want to focus on preparing to defend.

Perfect time to bring back QB with almost no camp or practice against one of the top defenses in the league?  I want whatever you smoke.

There's only one opportunity during the regular season where a QB returning from injury can have two weeks to prepare as the starter and that is directly following the bye week. The opponent is irrelevant. He'll have almost no camp no matter when he returns. The only statement of relevance you made was practice and for that, go back and reference the first sentence of this reply

Riverboat's comments in presser today give zero indication of any internal movement towards Cam coming back to practice after the bye.   He makes it clear the Panthers doctors and trainers have given him no new news and no timetable.

Rodrigue asked question at 2:25 mark, Ron tap dances for close to 3 minutes in response.

Why do you still believe anything that Ron says during one of his press conferences?

The team has the week off this week.

I certainly take everything he says with a grain of salt.

Question, do you believe Cam will be back at practice and fully participating next Monday?

Cam is not practicing yet so no... he won’t have two weeks of practice and opponent is extremely relevant.  Cam is rusty as hell, first game back and you want him to start against basically the best D in NFL?  Talking about throwing a lamb to the wolfs, destroying his confidence and giving Allen supporters even more ammo. Dumb.

ok that presser was a little weird where cam was concerned.  even featured a rivera putting his hand on his heart to demonstrate a sincerity moment, or something.   just weird.   didn't sound like he'd be practicing next week at all.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
