Pretty sure most knowledgable fans knew after the 2012 game against the Bears that Ron wasn't smart enough to out-coach any his opponents, let alone an offensive guru like Shanahan.

But we were a feel-good story in 2013 and he rode the coattails of one of the greatest QB seasons ever in 2015, which bought him an additional 5 years of missed opportunities.

Rivera is definitely a great defensive mind, but he should be a DC, not a HC

He sucks.  Period.  Defend him if you must but it’s like a script we can read every year: slow start, lose after bye, come on strong at the end to save job.

trash.

Pretty ******* tired of this movie to be honest.

One of Rivera's supporters as well. But yea we were totally out-schemed in this contest. No way should the 49ers offense been able to have their way like this. Just  out-coached, I feel this is a break it or break it year for the staff, want to see how this team responds next week after this embarrassing loss.

Ron is a good coach. He’ll undoubtedly get back to playoffs and beyond in a new environment with a new team, just like Fox.

And just like Fox, his time in Carolina is DONE. He won’t get any better as a coach here and we won’t get any better as a team.

I honestly feel bad for all of you who, time and again, fool yourselves into believing that yes, THIS time Ron Rivera is gonna change!  THIS year its all gonna be different!  THIS season he's finally going to join the 21st Century!

Behold today a team that HAS made that move.  They're on the field right now.

P.S. It ain't the Carolina Panthers.

You can all be assured that our owner is not going to tolerate s#$tshows like this first half

of course he will. he did last year after the steelers game.

tepper is just another owner who could care less about the product on the field.

He is our DC, and the defense has looked like ass - so not sure where that leaves him

He’s calling defensive plays, yes, but he is not our DC. Not at all. Maybe 2/3 of his time goes to D, if that. He’s still focused on game management and offense and ST to a degree, that’s a lot different than only caring about the D which is what DCs do. When we fire him he’ll land on his feet as a great DC somewhere else, hopefully in the AFC.

No one is going to defend Rivera's gameplanning in this game but how do we completely disregard what Rivera accomplished in helping lead this team to a 4-0 record with our backup qb primarily on the back of the defense that he is personally running? Almost every team lays at least one egg per season for one reason or the other. Is looking completely outclassed by an undefeated team on the road really the straw that broke the camel's back?

Rivera has looked great at times and looked terrible today (along with the entire team since we should maybe let the players share a little blame). Let's use the rest of the year to find out which of these trends holds truer.  Hopefully we get a healthy Cam soon and right the ship. But if this ends up being the start of the Panthers collapse and we end the year with a losing record, you'll hear no argument from me on whether we should make a change.
