Who was Schefter's source?

My initial thought was Cam or someone in his camp leaked info to Schefter that resulted in this tweet:

Now I am beginning to wonder if it was the team?

Did someone with the team leak info to Schefter in an effort to light a fire under Cam?

Listen folks, this is in no way a negative commentary directed at Cam....

....simply an effort to figure out what is really going on --- and it's a REALLY tangled web!

Myself and @ellis are both perplexed as to why the team would allow/make Cam fly up there commercial???  (and by himself no less)

I can only think of one plausible explanation....

....the team & their doctors are convinced there is nothing wrong with Cam at this point.  In fact, they have felt this way for at least 3 weeks (and probably more) and in moment of pique someone (authorized or otherwise) leaked some info to Schefter in an attempt to manipulate the situation.

Furthermore, the team is at its wits end on the issue and while they are willing to let Cam travel and get a 3rd opinion they are unwilling to foot (no pun intended) the expenses for doing so (hence commercial travel vs. the Gulfstream one Drew Brees would have undoubtedly been afforded).

I know this take will anger many of you but please tell me this....

....what NFL franchise forces their MVP winning QB to fly a connecting commercial itinerary in excess of 5 hours by himself to Wisconsin in order to see the best foot/ankle Dr. in the world?

EDIT:  Said team has THE single richest owner in the NFL....the jet fuel bill is literally tip money for him.

This is an amazing amount of speculation that requires a ton of assumptions.  You should seriously look into writing for a tabloid.

EDIT:  You're the same guy who took issue with my "How many weeks of rehab does Cam have left?" thread aren't you?  Ranted that I was completely off base about 'Boat's "middle of his rehab" comments if I remember correctly....hahahaha....

Yeah, I was just curious about the transportation piece of all of this. I guess I was just more fascinated by it than anything. I wasn’t trying to draw any conclusions, because I certainly do believe the owner to be a guy who cares. But, some facts will eventually come out about this entire deal, they always do.

Eventually, we will know a lot more. I would just continue to follow some of the local folks.

The owner has $11 billion in cash....well, maybe $9 billion since he wrote the check for the Panthers....

....and he's gonna Uber his $20 million QB out to CLT Douglas International Airport for a 5hr+ connecting commercial flight to Green Bay?!?

Doesn't seem very caring to me....

Seems clear to me that we were trying to handle this injury in a fashion that would both A) avoid surgery and B) allow Cam to return this season. It also seems clear to me that plan isn't working.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the medical team is surprised with how Cam has handled rehab. Cam is a different cat. Then again, the way our medical staff has handled rehab/recovery processes in the past is questionable at very best.

I just hope that Cam will listen to the specialist and do what is best for his future. If that means surgery and IR, so be it.

That would run completely counter to EVERYTHING Riverboat Ron has said from the git-go...

...if he said it once -- he said it 1400 times -- "Cam is doing everything we ask of him"....

....was 'Boat being disingenuous?

PS...I think your position has merit.

    • Panthers sign OT Rasheed Walker Terms: One year, up to $10 million Grade: A The price of this deal might be the most shocking of free agency thus far. Walker was widely considered the best free agent tackle this year and was expected to receive a large contract. But his market developed very slowly, so he has signed a one-year deal with a maximum value of $10 million -- meaning the base value is below that -- per NFL Network. For context, my free agency contract model projected a deal averaging $21.8 million for Walker. Instead, it's a short-term commitment for less than half that. And the Panthers are the beneficiaries. Carolina entered this offseason with a possible need at left tackle after Ikem Ekwonu suffered a patellar tendon rupture in the playoffs that put his 2026 season in question. It's also the last year of his contract. The Panthers signed Stone Forsythe as an insurance plan already in free agency, but once Walker's market fell it seemed like they felt adding him was well worth it, too. Our win rate metrics consider Walker to be a solid player. Last season in Green Bay, he was in the 85th percentile among tackles in pass block win rate, though only 22nd percentile in run block win rate. He was in the 69th percentile and 48th percentile in those two metrics in 2024, respectively. Given that Dan Moore Jr. received $20.5 million per year from the Titans last year most -- myself included -- thought Walker would walk away with more than that. Perhaps the struggles of Moore (who wasn't great last season) contributed to Walker's market being cooler than expected, a theory that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggested. Walker was also arrested two months ago at LaGuardia Airport in New York for allegedly trying to check-in with a firearm that he had a license for in Wisconsin but not New York. Either way, teams felt differently about Walker than most on the outside thought. But he's a heck of an add for the Panthers at this price. While his run-game contributions might be far from perfect, a weak pass protector at tackle can sink a passing game. Even if this is only a one-year arrangement, Walker should be able to help keep Bryce Young upright
    • Fantastic signing. If he is good, this will make next offseason really interesting. I would imagine that Morgan would try to extend Walker and convince Ikey to move to the right side to replace Moton. This also opens up options at 19 at lot instead of forcing a tackle. I'm not a fan, but I'm definitely more open to Morgen drafting Sadiq now, but there is also Peter Woods, and even some like Dillon Thieneman is now in the mix. Hell, I'm still for another off ball LB.
    • sure, but Panthers are theoretically in their win now window. Their first rounder needs to be a day one starter
