I find it interesting that all of a sudden they are talking about it openly.

Confirmed he went to the Doc.  Confirmed who the Doc was.  Elaborated on the reasons for the visit.   Revealed the Doc's diagnosis and recommendation.   Even teased a little bit on timeframe....

....why the sudden and 180* about face on talking abt it?

With that presdure valve now blown off will be interesting to see 'Boats body language in the pressers next week.

If anything, the mishandling of yet another injury to a franchise QB is a reason for them to go.

There isn't much a medical staff can do when a player conceals the extent of his injury

Cam is a guy and an athlete. He wanted to play

Nobody is to blame.

Brand new coaching staff / GM might want their own guy to build around.

A guy who always wants players to end their careers "on their own terms" might be more likely to keep him around.

Care to elaborate on that?

Use examples of someone of Cam’s caliber and age that this has happened to, I am genuinely interested to know

Once again, Cam has some culpability here.

But as a youth coach, I've had to pull kids off the field with concussion symptoms - they tried to hide but I could tell.

As a player, I've been pulled off the field when I couldn't even lift my arm to parallel. I tried to hide it but the coaches found me - including the opposing team's.

This was a known injury to Cam. His practice reps and the game playcalling reflected it. Mahomes would not have been on the field. Brees would not have been on the field.

One of the many responsibilities of coaches is to save players from themselves. And it's just as important as teaching them x's and o's.

Jay Cutler.

And it's not just his age that's an issue. It's his health. Heck, Cutler was perfectly healthy (diabetes aside).

Look! I’m going to just throw out my opinion...

Cam is not going to get back to MVP form.  Even if he comes into next season 100% healthy, he could get injured.  Every training camp for the last 3 years the story has been a healthy Cam, but every season he has sustained an injury that made him more and more a liability on the field.

Cam, in his prime, was one of the most exceptional athletes I have even seen.  I have nothing but respect and love for him. I hope everything works out for him, whatever that might be.

I don’t think he’s worth the $20 million.  I just don’t.  It’s not in anyone’s best interest to pretend like Cam can take this team back to the SB.  It’s in Cam and the team’s best interest to let him test the market.

I doubt he will restructure or sign a new contract.  What incentive would he have to take less than the $20 mil when he is in the twilight of his career?

I don’t see a trade because of his injury history.  Plus, teams won’t be willing to give up what we would demand.

I don’t think our long term QB solution is on the current roster. Allen isn’t a bad QB, but his ceiling isn’t much higher than where he’s at now.  The kid we got in the 3rd...too early to tell, but he’s got a ton of growing to do.

There is likely a coaching change coming in the next 1-3 seasons.

The writing is on the wall.  The Cam/Rivera era is nearly played out.

    • I consider last year Bryce's rookie year.....and I expect some regression/D adjustment in his second season in Canales' O.  Film is film.   So yeah, I agree....he won't be the dude that opened up the year week 1 or closed the door week 17.  We will get some dude in between it all most likely.  Which IMO puts us in a really awkward no man's land with Bryce.
    • The question is which Bryce shows up game 1. Do we get week 2 (2024) Bryce, or week 18 (2024) Bryce?  I will say that his progression after the benching last year was amazing. He literally got better every game - sans Dallas. Like every week he did something we hadn't seen him do before. And it wasn't luck, toss it up for grabs plays like Penix did against Carolina. Penix was just throwing the ball as hard as he could in the direction of a receiver and hoping they'd make a play for him. What we saw from Bryce was different. Decision making, reading defenses, recognizing blitzes and where they were coming from, knowing his hot, avoiding pressure and manipulating the pocket, throwing with anticipation, taking shots downfield, and running the ball surprisingly well. Stats don't always tell the story. Did he miss some throws that he should have made - sure did. But the clutch gene is strong with this one. One score game and Carolina has the ball with 2 minutes on the clock - I'm confident he'll give them a chance to win more than he doesn't.
    • I really like David Moore. He's a reliable WR. Smart, doesn't drop the ball and he's where he's supposed to be. Now, he ain't gonna route up a DB. He ain't gonna 50/50 ball a DB. He ain't gonna run by a DB either. But he runs a good enough route and catches the ball - definitely an NFL average WR. Every team could use a David Moore. Now if this receiving group can force Dan and Dave to let him go, then this team has come a long way since 2023. A LONG way. But I will say that Horn's speed is a big deal. They don't really have another guy with speed and quickness to blow the top off the defense and make guys miss in space after the catch, though he is still a rookie and hasn't done it in the NFL. If he and Renfrow push Moore out, then we might actually have something gents. Plus I see Renfrow as Thielen's replacement in 2026. I just don't think Coker is the reliable, move the chains guy like Thielen. Could be wrong.
