complimenting Kyle is not a slight on Cam

It's really weird that people get upset about compliments for Kyle Allen when Cam is on IR. Very weird.

It’s weird when trolls are allowed on both sides and it’s just brushed aside because clicks too. But hey what do I know

this should've been one of those special Keep Pounding games and guys like Allen and mcCaffery and DJ Freaking Moore came to fight for that while the OL and defense was emasculated in front of everybody.

Humiliating effort in areas this team is supposed to pride itself on.

it's a combination of:

1. Kyle's lack of experience

2. Playcalls

3. CMC being the best player on the team

Those three things don't mean anything for the problems Cam was dealing with.

Lack of experience is why he can't connect on deep balls?

There was a certain QB in 2011 who entered his rookie year with a lockout hindering his opportunity to prepare who threw for 800+ yards in two games out of the gate.

No obviously Allen isn't and will not be that guy. And I'll give you that playcalling has not been ideal, but either Allen can throw deep consistently or he can't. We are going to find out the next several games. If we don't start seeing that then questions are only going to continue to pile up.

I really don't think Cam or Kyle are starting here in 2020

It's possible.

Allen has done enough to merit staying with the team and staying the starter for now.  He hasn't done enough to make me not want to look at other options next season.

Granted, he still has time.

Really wonder how many on this board were Panther fans during Delhomme era.

I was a fan before him, and had his back, but also seen when the writing was on the wall for him. But I also know Allen is not the future but doing the best he can. What people yet to realize is what set QBs apart from one another. Some are average, above average, great, and spectacular. Some are game managers or game changers. People acting like Allen is a game changer when he is not, but a above average game manager. You know a game changer when you see one.

here’s what gets me though: people post about how he got those fumbles cleaned up. you know, he’s only had 2 over the last 5 games. hmm well ok but he has now thrown 5 picks in that same time period (really last 3 games and it gets even uglier if you start looking at the gift wrapped throws that dudes were dropping out there). i’m supposed to see improvement here because he’s not dropping the ball every other time he touches it but you’re a cam only fan if you idk suggest that maybe the interceptions are a big red flag. so ok he has improved his grip on the ball. but is he actually getting better? i don’t see it. maybe the fumbling thing is a fluke. probably is because dudes don’t usually fumble at that kind of rate. but those interceptions are earned and it’s worse than he box score suggests. his receivers have been playing defense for weeks now.

cam gets a pass on the few holes in his game because he’s an otherworldly talent who put together one of the greatest seasons at the position of all time. but with that said, this isn’t supposed to be about cam, is it? that’s the premise of the topic i mean but everyone is viewing allen through that lens. even you rn. it’s not fair to him, i get that. but we’re still having the same dumbass cam arguments we’ve had for years now, just in a more abstract way.

I don't know how to separate quotes so I apologize.

I'm willing to discount the 49ers game because everything about that just went completely off the rails. There was no aspect of the team that functioned in that game. Maybe that's "convenient" or whatever but there are times in the NFL when a team is so unprepared you can't take anything away from it, except to wonder why this always seems to happen at least once a year under the coach.

i think the fumbling thing probably is a fluke, just from a probability standpoint like you said.

But I do think he is getting better. There was one dropped interception today, but there was also a pass Samuel should have caught as well. NFL watchers are spoiled because QBs are either world beaters right away (Mahomes, Watson, Jackson) or they're...QBs for the Jets or Bears. There's no inbetween anymore for a lot of reasons.

No one is saying Kyle Allen is Mahomes, Watson, or Jackson. But neither were Brady, Brees, or Rodgers. And it was possible to watch their games as they happened at get excited for things they were doing well while critiquing things they struggled with.

Kyle doesn't have a great deep ball right now, I don't think. It's entirely possible they're just not calling those plays, but he doesn't have a cannon like Cam does. But neither Brady for Brees have a cannon either. Well Brady has gotten stronger but he's snorting steroids.

I think in in response to this specific posts we've lost the ability to judge progress with QBs because of the way the nfl is moving and the ridiculous talent now at the position.

I also think you're right in that it's never going to be possible to discuss kyle without referring to cam, as unfair to him as that is.

1. Cam is the greatest QB in team history.

2. Cam is a borderline hall of famer (I don't think he gets in but that's another thread).

3. Cam owes the Panthers (and the league) fuging nothing for how they treated him.

1.  Tied with Jake.

2.  Has no chance.

3.  Cam has collected well in excess of $100,000,000 for his troubles, stop whining about how he was "treated".

Those are the two most likely options.  Who do you think will start in 2020?

Odds of one or the other starting for Panthers in 2020 = 100%.

Odds of Kyle vs. Cam = 60% Kyle.

(if Cam gets foot, should and noggin to 100% his odds increase to 99%)

Due to how cheap Kyle is likely to be, I wouldn't be surprised if he started for us.

But if we get new management and draft / acquire a new qb, then all bets are off unless Kyle steps it up.

Barring a complete meltdown or a big injury, I'm pretty comfortable saying that he'll be on the team next year.

Whether or not he'll be a starter? Depends on what the options are.

If he finishes the season continuing to improve, I definitely think he has a chance.
