The Athletic Saints writer goes ballistic over PI call

Mr. Scot

They're the NFC version of Patriots fans.  Always working the refs both literally and metaphorically and whinging about how much the league hates them even when they win.

I've known a baghead-era Saints fan or two and they were alright.  The fans who piped up post-2006 because they're not embarrassed to claim them anymore or weren't around for the shitty years are the insufferable ones.

Most of us would probably have named Bill Voth our best analyst, though he's now employed by the team so he likely has some...limitations.

Jourdan Rodrigue is probably the best of the independent bunch, though she's a bit of a homer sometimes.

I feel that about Voth. We had another guy like that (John DeShazier) that now works for the team.

It seems as though GOOD journalists are really good and bad ones are REALLY bad, there’s no in between. LOL.

Payton was crying after our game because the Panthers' coaches got it right and the Aints got screwed "again."

Man, if you think yesterday’s game was called anywhere near evenly then bless your little heart.

LOL, I never want to see anyone on this board mention “Katrina refs” ever again after that garbage.

Both those challenges had the correct outcome. Cook clearly extended his arm on the defender, that’s the definition of OPI. The other one was soft and wasn’t expected to be overturned based on other challenges so far this year but it was also clearly a PI on the defender, he obviously grabbed him with the ball in the air, even Romo admitted that and he was clearly rooting for the Aints to blow us out.

Not that it matter but oddly enough man, I thought just the opposite. I was actually surprised at how much he seemed to be rooting for us and Kyle Allen . I chalked it up to both of them having the connection of being undrafted.

Personally I thought it was funny that they got bit by a rule that was created because the Saints pitched such a fuss, but it does show just how rigged the NFL is... I mean as far as I remember, isn't that the first PI overturned all season?

No, but I think it is still less than 15 total. The turnover rate is absurdly low. If anything, this venture has shown that the challenge rule was as much bullshit as most said it would be. It's fuging dumb. It's a subjective call anyway.

How about instead of expending effort on the challenges you have some punitive measures for refs consistently being fug ups? Maybe that will get some of that licked.

Was there ever an explanation given of why the refs picked up the defensive holding flag on the Slye miss?

The quick replay I saw showed one DL holding both hands on top of Paradis, preventing him from rising up, while other lineman jumped over him.  Not that he deserved getting bailed out but seemed an obvious call.

Yeah I saw that too, Just more of the NFL making it up as they go. It's like they want to stir up controversy to make the season interesting... You know like World Wide Wrestling does.
