Fire them all. After the season. I wouldnt mind if we gave hurney another chance, but it wouldnt hurt my feelings if he was canned too. But all the coaches need to go. And even though most dont want to hear it, i also think we need to let cam go and let the new coach choose his new qb as well. Especually if we get a young offensive minded coach. We could use the picks we get from Cam to mold the team to the new coaches vision.

Hurney and Ron gone or Tepper is full of poop and more of the same. Hurney could be re-asigned to shake hands and kiss ass but he is not a good or acceptable GM. Rons time here is over and at this point i dont even know if he would make a good DC at this point, he has been that bad this year outside of his comfort zone and grows more outdated every year.

- Ron Rivera fired, Marty Hurney retained.  Absolutely not.  That puts Hurney in position to select/help select the next coach, in addition to more roster building in the same pattern, and probably not addressing one of our biggest risks: what do we do if our starting QB is not able to finish the season.  My guess is the weaknesses will remain weaknesses. To me, this is the worst possible scenario.

- Marty Hurney fired, Ron Rivera retained.  I can accept this in one scenario: Tepper lets the new GM evaluate the current staff, and the search/signing of said GM takes long enough to make replacing them impractical.  That means that unless Rivera's results here drastically change, he and the staff are out after 2020, anyway.  The downside is that it may mean 2020 is another status quo on the field.  The upside is it most likely is inevitable that the process ends with a complete housecleaning, just spread out over a year.

- Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney both fired.  My vote.  They can both be fired the day after the season ends, but I'd prefer the new GM is part of hiring a new coach.

- Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney both retained.  This just means the inevitable will take another year.  It will make me question Tepper's commitment to putting a better product on the field, which I have not yet done.

That's why I was looking at possible head coach and GM combinations that you can bring in together in the other thread.

That solution works, as does the real possibility Tepper already has somebody in mind as the new GM and even discussed a hypothetical arrangement with them.

I dunno guys.  I'm pretty happy with the direction and overall spirit of the team.  Hurney has made some great moves and really positioned us well for the future.  Ron has the guys dialed in and this new 3-4 hybrid scheme looks lethal.  I'm kinda hoping we can keep this group together a little longer though I am concerned we will lose our Coordinators and Assistants.  Tough pieces to replace but my faith is in Ron.

To the folk thinking we need a new GM to find the successor at QB...

If Cam can't come back next season, be prepared to go 5+ seasons before finding our guy. Doesn't matter who the GM is. Hurney drafted a QB in the 3rd round he thought could make a difference. He didn't just ignore the problem. He's done alot to address the gaps on this team this offseason. Personally think coaching has failed moreso than getting the right personnel in the locker room.

Hurney and then-head coach Fox should have both been let go after 2010.  Let's hope Tepper doesn't make the same mistake Richardson did.

Worth remembering that Fox was never actually fired. The Panthers just didn't renew his contract.

Hurney by that point was working without a contract (something we all probably should have seen as a red flag) and it was Darin Gantt's opinion that as long as Jerry Richardson was in charge, Marty was GM for life if he wanted to be.

Then Richardson wanted to fire Rivera, Marty fell on the sword to save him and things got really strange.

Part of me wonders how things would be different if Marty hadn't done that.
