Players’ Social Media Reactions

LUUUUUKE

Some pretty interesting (and good) reactions from the players --- Ron should be proud.

In no particular order:

> For a while have thought Ron was over-matched from an intellect perspective vs. the top coaches in the league.

> Clearly the players have a lot of respect for Ron, good to see.

> Am surprised Tepper made this move now but commend him for being open & honest about it, and the strategic reasons for doing so make sense.

> Lastly, this could absolutely destroy the organization in the short-term.

I'm a big fan of Tepper but since leaving Goldman-Sachs, while the business he has managed (Appaloosa) has generated massive returns/profits, it was relatively small and flat from an organizational perspective....

....I hope he hasn't underestimated the impact this firing might have on the broader organization --- it may just throw the entire place into a state of shock.  If a complete meltdown takes place from now through the end of the year I won't be surprised.

Players are acting like the mother fuger died, he just got fired. If you loved him so much you should have played harder.

Because if someone you had a great deal of respect for unexpectedly lost their job, you also shouldn't be excused if you were little emotional, and it would be okay if total strangers publicly criticized you for being so.

Maybe just try being a decent human being and cut these guys some slack. I know that's a lot to ask of anyone on an internet forum, but maybe just give it a shot.

He's been skating on thin ice here for almost his entire tenure. I get that he's a great guy to be around, but it was time for him to go. There's really no reason for players to be posting what reads like eulogies. poo, there's a good chance he ends up landing in Dallas or Cleveland and end up in a better position than he was here. There is no reason to shed tears for Riverboat Ron.

So now you're in the business of dictating how others should say farewell to a colleague, boss and coworker is that it? You get to decide how they should or shouldn't react and whether that's appropriate? There's literally nothing that requires your involvement or even comment on any of this. There's no reason for you to poo the way others say goodbye.

Some of you are about as dumb  as a stick. Players loved Ron, it makes zero difference if you do or not.  It’s actually quite nice to see how they feel about him.  It’s also a sign of respect that Tepper is allowing him to have his presser tomorrow.  Crazy how quickly some turn on a coach that was good for this organization.  I was ready for change, but I will always have respect for Ron and you should too.

The players knew this was a possibility, they are not dumb.  He was a players coach and it would be concerning if the players didn’t feel this way about him.  This happens every year to multiple coaches.

Exactly.  This wasn't "unexpected" from a players perspective -- at least for those with a modicum of intelligence.

Anyone notice how quick they were to brush aside the business and go straight to the "as a man" part?  No coincidences.

You can't even keep it classy in a thread such as this?

You'd think that the Huddle represents the best of Panthers fans...OK, a stranger might think that...

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
