Practice is one thing, but game day can give a lot of information we could use, especially headed into such a pivotal offseason.

consistently holding onto the ball when he gets sacked would be a big improvement - every time Allen gets sacked or is about to I'm thinking its going to be a turn over.

We need more than 2 games of Grier tape

If he comes in for the last game or two and lights it up, I'm not going to trust it

There are far too many backup QBs who play well before defenses get tape of them, you can see it all over the league.  We really needed at least 6 games to evaluate Grier.

On one hand we know what we have in Allen and need to see with Grier but do we REALLY want to throw him out there given the circumstances? I don't think we'd get a fair assessment.

Let's stop with this meme

The Panthers passing block is top 8 worst in the NFL, but it's not historically bad or even greatly terrible.  If a QB is destined to be a franchise guy, he will show signs of it even with bad pass blocking.

Cam Newton certainly did.

The idea you need good blocking to evaluate a young QB prospect is absurd.

The idea of expecting a 3rd round QB with not even 1 year of NFL experience to perform well in a situation veteran Cam couldn't is absurd... Why are you so angry that Will Grier is not coming out there? If he does and we go 8-8, we screwed ourselves... Then leave ourselves in the "Is he Matt Moore 2.0?" Will Grier could come out and succeed for the same reasons some of y'all claim Allen did and next year suck...

Deshaun Watson played with one of the worst pass blocking units of the decade (statistically) prior to the Tunsil trade, and still showed he's a franchise QB.

Put Grier out there asap.

Deshaun Watson also won a national championship... plus was a first round pick. Grier was neither of those. I was feet away from Grier 70% of the game and he was laughing and goofing off while we were getting our asses kicked. He was not saving the world...

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
