David Tepper is searching for a head coach for the first time as the Panthers’ owner, and he opens up to @AlbertBreer about what he’s looking for in a coach (and more in this week’s Game Plan) http://go.si.com/feeNdOD

“I didn’t come in there and just buy a team, [thinking I knew what I was doing],” he said. “I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. My greatest strength—my greatest strength—is knowing how stupid I am and what I don’t know. I wanted to figure out what was going on and have a better idea of what should make a successful organization.”

...and some huddlers still want to question this guy and give advice on what decisions he should make.  i have zero doubt he will make this a winning organization in time.

great read, thanks for posting, OP

two threads died to discuss "insider" information LARPs.  this is straight from the horse's mouth and is right in line with what all the level-headed posters were saying - @WoahW @micnificent28 @MechaZain @mjligon

“Cam’s future is going to largely be up to how good he feels,” Tepper said. “That’s first. It’s actually an interesting question to me when there’s a lot of speculation on this because there should be no speculation on Cam one way or the other. If Cam’s healthy, he’s an elite player. So we all hope Cam’s healthy. And people will use an elite player because there just aren’t that many elite players in the league.

Really good find @TheSpecialJuan.

he maintained ambiguity in with me how the next head coach, incumbent GM Marty Hurney and a new personnel executive-to-be-hired would fall on the flow chart.

Turns out, he will make one hire, with a title to be established later.

Mr. Tepper, why did you keep Ron and Marty after 2018?

Quote

“I’d say the first year was total learning, the second year, getting a deeper understanding in figuring things out.”

Every single thread seems to be derailed by how one feels about Cam.

Pretty much. Tepper doesn't actually say anything new about Newton here either. it's just the same stuff we've already heard put a different way.

There are way more interesting things in this article than just that.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
