Kyle Allen Only Struggles Because of the OL

What's worse is that the problems don't appear to be getting better. Sunday should have been a great opportunity for Seattle to get its pass rush right, given that Pete Carroll's team was going up against eminently sackable Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen. Allen had a 9.5% sack rate heading into the game, the second-worst mark in the league among starters. The Seahawks sacked him once on 42 dropbacks. He was pressured on just 13.3% of those plays, the lowest rate for any quarterback in football in Week 15. He threw three interceptions, but quarterbacks who thrive without pressure are going to give the Seahawks trouble come this postseason.

I didn’t see where it said he only struggles because of the o line however...LOL At the title

It's been said in here a BUNCH of times. To be sure they don't make life easy on him but his struggles are far from solely the turnstiles in front of him. The Seahawks game is evidence of that. As a QB he received the least pressure of any in Week 15, yet threw 3 INT's.

Honestly, I had maintained that he was a good backup for us but I am starting to rethink that.

Allen gets worse every week infact I use to think he was a good backup for Cam now I don't even see him as a backup qb he is terrible.

People want to know why we don’t start Grier. Allen is a good example of why. He was once looked at as a possible starter, then backup, now even questionable for that. His confidence is gone, hopefully he can get it back, but why ruin two QBs when we can continue to develop Grier

Is there even such a thing these days?  Or is it a couple anti Cam trolls...?

I think the majority of the pro-Allen crowd was just standard homers. But, even the homers can probably see the obvious at this point.

I must admit I did not expect him to arguably keep getting worse.

I can't buy into that idea. If your confidence as a QB is that easy to shake, I don't think it's likely you have the mental make up to be a long term, successful, starting NFL QB. Bad games are going to happen. Bad streaks are going to happen. You have to battle through it. Elite, good and even average QB's in the league battle through that stuff.

If Grier comes in and his confidence is irreparably shattered, was he ever going to be good?

At this point, I want to see Grier. Allen isn't going to win us any more games, the team has obviously given up, what is the downside of just getting a look at your drafted QB?

Oh no! But that one guy in the gameday thread was saying this is a worse line than 2014 because Cam got sacked less that year.

Yeah, I have already debunked the "worst OL in the NFL" and "worst OL in Panthers history" quotes. They're terrible, and we all know that, but all this "Brees/Brady/Mahomes/Jackson/2015 Cam couldn't play behind these guys" is pure garbage.

Imagine completely ignoring cams elite pocket presence and mobility and saying that a line that had Byron fuging bell, amini, and a converted te/dt Nate chandler on your line was better than this year. Dude is smoking crack.

I actually think this is the worst line I've seen the Panthers field.

That doesn't really excuse mistakes that Allen made, though. Not every miscue can be attributed to bad blocking.

Well, that doesn't bear out statistically. Not in pass protection. They aren't even the worst in the NFL. Maybe they end up there at the end of the season, but I kind of doubt it. Bottom five? Unquestionably.

    • No poo tho you might could Jenkins for Legette. They got nothing at WR after the big 2 in Cincy. I don’t think you trade away OL depth. Could get a quality player in cuts. Really that 3-4 end spot what you should be looking for is someone who is stout with long arms and can push back the OL in both the run and pass game for others to make plays…. But we signed Wharton, sometimes I think Evero is a fraud ass nerd who should be an analyst at best.
    • you would honestly probably do Monroe Freeling more of a disservice by putting him in a position where is not yet ready to succeed. .we all knew Monroe Freeling struggled at the NFL combine in drills because of technique related issues & would need time to develop  & now all of a sudden before they even put the pads on Monroe Freeling is somehow a starting LT in the NFL ? if he struggled at the NFL scouting combine what do you actually think is going to happen in a live NFL game at LT ? .even our best LT of all time was not ready to start at LT when he was a rookie & he turned out to be a pretty good darn LT by the name of Jordan Gross ...just saying be patient Young Jedis
    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
