Boohoo Hurney is still here. Misery loves company and there’s plenty of threads to whine about that fact.

The good news is, Rivera’s run is finally over. He was good for a time but his stubbornness and unwillingness to learn from his mistakes meant it was time for his departure.

Tepper has mentioned he intends to add an assistant GM, a VP of football operations and will hopefully find good people to pair with Hurney. We also get a new head coach finally, picking 7th overall, have all of our picks, outside of Bradberry no major free agents at risk of leaving and the only major dead money on the cap is the 9.3 from Matt Kalil that will finally expire after this year.

We have key pieces to build around still on both sides of the ball. Plenty to look forward to. I can’t wait til the convo on here shifts to these positives we have moving forward. Hopefully this thread will kick that off.

You mean 2021? With Hurney still around 2020 is already a 3-13 season or dare I say 2-14?

If Hurney shits the bed this year, he’s gone. Tepper is giving him a chance to prove Rivera was the problem.

So either things look up next year or the Hurney era officially ends. Either way it’s bette than the rock bottom we’re at now.

This makes me cringe.........to death. Hurney has had 13 years to prove his worth. Not a single back to back winning record stretch. Smh.

I don’t disagree with you. I’ve stated multiple times there’s a strong argument for him to have been fired. He wasn’t. There is also an argument to see why Tepper kept him. Should he have based on both arguments? Probably not. But he didn’t. That fact is written in stone. So the constant bitching what can’t be changed is fruitless. It’s the offseason and many other topics to discuss, but you and army like you only want to harp on this same topic.

It's already been proven Rivera alone wasn't the problem. We tanked hard after we fired him. Ron has four losing seasons with Hurney as his GM. He had winning records in three of five seasons with Gettleman.

Again, I wouldn’t have thrown a tantrum if he fired Hurney. I too would have been excited by blowing the whole operation up and starting fresh. It didn’t happen. I see why Tepper kept him and you probably do too. Doesn’t make it the right decision. However the decision has been made.

No, I definitely don't see why Tepper kept Hurney. There is more than enough evidence to conclude Hurney is a subpar NFL GM and simply calling him subpar is probably being too generous.

    • Ya'll.....look at Stafford without his feet set. This is why people in here talk about Bryce not having elite abilities mattering when plays break down. He cannot make these kind of throws with his base not being set.
    • Pretty much going to play each other the same way.  Stop the run let the bad QB try to win the game. It will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes.
    • From the Charlotte Observer   1. quarterback Bryce Young has yet to earn a road win this season, and the third-year former overall No. 1 pick is 1-15 on the road as a starter for his career — which is tied for the worst record over 16 games in NFL history. 2. The Jets, meanwhile, haven’t won a game yet. But even still it’s tough to pinpoint their identity. 3. They’ve lost four of their six games by a single score — three games by two points, specifically.  4. Quarterback Justin Fields has flashed his propensity for playmaking at times this year — with the exception of his Week 6 performance where he only threw for 45 yards passing — and Breece Hall is a undeniably good lead running back having a solid year statistically.   5. The Jets’ team rankings aren’t too ugly either.     Their defense, specifically. That unit is ninth in third-down conversion rate (36.4%) and 10th in opponent passing yards per game (200.5).   Their Achilles heel to date, it appears, is their turnover margin (-1.2, 31st in the NFL).
