Ron's seat has been at various stages of warm several times in Carolina.

Washington got the job after the 2017 season when we went 12-4 and Wilks got the Cardinals job.

Hell, person was talking up Rivera's coaching tree at that point like Washington would be a head coach in short order as well.

I frankly have no real problem w/ a coach giving a guy a shot.  No one had a problem w/ it because Washington is a legit DL coach too.

It didn't work.  Ron figured that out before his first season audition even finished.  That's life.

But the coaching issue remained that way because of Tepper.  That is my take.  Ron clearly knew Washington wasn't the dude before that first season finished.  Ron ain't a dumbo about D.

he wasn't going to be allowed to get Del Rio type.  Not by a FO that knew Ron would be gone if he didn't win.   So if Ron couldn't bring in a good coach? He would just pull double dude and try to help his guy.

so we hired norv in january of 2018 but ron wasn't allowed to get a competent D coordinator?  makes no sense.   can you explain richard rogers?   its possible ron has learned a lesson, but getting fired is what did it.    you've got a personal theory.

I really hope he doesn't poach Norv or Scott Turner.  Our offense looked so good when Cam was healthy and with the Oline somewhat stable.  I can only imagine how much better that offense would be with a solid line, CMC, DJ Moore, and Cam.

Lol...what coach is gonna come here and has to use someone else's staff??

Lol Ron what have you learned about yourself and what do you wanna do different this time around?

“win a Super Bowl”

dude literally cannot learn from his mistakes. Good riddance.

Next to the description of "Narcissistic personality disorder" in the psychiatric guidelines, you'll find a picture of Ronald Eugene Rivera.

yeah, he didn't have the green light to go out and bring in a good DC.    Both Fox and Rivera got handicapped at points in their careers by the FO.  Not saying it is wrong.  But when your seat is getting lukewarm you don't always get to go out and hire the help you would like.

So coaches don't get the green light to spend millions of the owners money to desperately try to save their jobs in the final year of their contracts?

Huh.

One other note...

Rivera always wanted the recognition, respect, and admiration of being the "big man", but he never wanted the hard work or serious attitude it took to succeed.  ESPECIALLY against his fellow NFL cut-throat head coaches who would sacrifice goats on altars (and more if that's what it took) to get an extra 0.5 yards per offensive down.

One final note...

When asked about what it would take to get Dwayne Haskins to the level of franchise quarterback, one of Ron Rivera's answers hinted that he'd need to work as hard as he had seen other quarterbacks work before.

He didn't mention Newton specifically, but you can easily assume. Newton was mentioned in the framework of the question that was asked.

If Ron Rivera was in such high demand as many Rivera apologists on this very board claimed, why did he jump at the first offer from the first, and only, team to show any interest?

Why didn't Ron Rivera wait to see if Cleveland, Dallas, NY Giants called for an interview? Maybe because he, just like many Rivera apologists on this very board, has a much higher opinion of his abilities than a lot of other people?

That was/is a little alarming for me as well.  I was asking in another thread exactly what did Snyder have to give Ron to make him sign so quickly?

More front office control?  Yikes.

Top 3 money?  Long deal....that one got answered.

Bet the Cowboys and Giants aren't interested at all since they both have young QB's who need to be developed, Cleveland, it would seem would have been a better spot than the Skins.

gotta say, Riverboat was probably feeling pretty dang good as that presser opened.   Then was introduced w/ a good ole Happy Thanksgiving.  It was at that moment....Ron Rivera realized.  He was in dysfunctional DC

I think he realized that the Happy Thanksgiving was a reference to Ron being fired after losing to the Redskins just before Thanksgiving which ultimately gave them the availability to sign their new coach
