making good decisions in life is not equal to making good decisions as an NFL owner....not sure why this is so difficult for folks to understand.

he kept hurney around...that in and of itself is a giant red flag.

What other decision has been bad? You mention Hurney, but most of the guys Tepper has been linked to be targeting  for future roles have contracts that are set to expire in May, and multiple reports have come out saying that Hurney could be moved into a new role/possibly not with us going into next year. The offseason and draft is coming up, and firing him now would be like firing Ron right before the season started this year. Our new coach will play a huge role in building his system, and will have a call on who is in the assistant gm and VP.

“That being said, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network said that this statement doesn't guarantee Hurney's long-term future with the Panthers. It just means that he will not be fired immediately. Specifically, Garafolo cited the revelation that Tepper will be bringing in an assistant general manager and a vice president of football operations that will work with him and strive to make this team competitive for the future.“

Tepper:

“We will consider a wide range of football executives to complement our current football staff. One change that we will implement is hiring an assistant general manager and vice president of football operations. We all must recognize that this is the first step in a process, but we are committed to building and maintaining a championship culture for our team and our fans."

“According to Garafolo, there is an expectation that the assistant general manager will be the eventual replacement for Hurney. This move just may not happen in the coming weeks as previously expected.”

And how many do you expect this team to win with Cam if he plays in 2020?

healthy cam we should be competing for a playoff spot every year. idc. this is a QB driven league. no people managing guy who spits on himself line cook coach matters more than the franchise QB. without a QB, coach going nowhere.

Why isn't your avatar Rhule spitting on himself yet? Seems like a big oversight.

    • I'm not a huge fan of BY, but he does have some clutchness developing
    • While you're correct, people are just sick of being told, "you don't understand this, you're dumb" despite what their eyes say. This applies to the Panthers and anything else in life. This board can be a miserable place, but this isn't the old days anymore because Social Media & Reddit have hijacked old-school forum users.  I have in the last year or so taken a massive step back from Social Media & Reddit. Deleted accounts on both, I only have X/Twitter now. But I was looking for an outlet for Panthers talk and I did not want to do that on X much at all. There are only two legitimate outlets for that I've found, here and SB Nation. SB Nation I used to partake in, but they absolutely bumble-f*cked the comments section, and I like the setup of the posts + comments, as opposed to article + comments. Also, as others have pointed out, being a Panthers fan has been a horrendous existence since Cam left. Just an awful crew of coaches, draft picks, trading away great players, etc. It's been miserable.  Ever since Tepper bought the team, I hoped that he commit to a full rebuild. He never did, he thought there were shortcuts and so did Rhule. This hamstrung us for years, and then he massively overstepped with the BY trade.  This ruined the team building, because there was no depth, and then it ruined nuanced BY discussions because of the insane haul we gave up. He will never live up to that, I think many people are finally wrapping their heads around that now which is good. The best thing for this board to get better is for the Panthers to win more, draft well, and to stay committed to crawling through this Andy Dufrense poop-pipe to escape the depths of NFL hell. It will be ugly and stink along the way, but you can see already this year if we commit to drafting then the team and the vibes can turn around quicker than you think.  I am extremely optimistic about the draft class this season, it's something to watch, talk about, and celebrate. It also gives Dan and I think by extension Dave Canales more of a leash, which I think we need to give them and grant them the time to turn this boat around.
