Hell he has me pumped up and I'm just an observer.

Well, he is the son of the preacher, so some of that is probably learned from watching someone be charismatic and deliver an effective message. I really have no doubt that he will get our team fired up and in a better place mentally. Where he needs to be successful is getting these professional athletes to respect his football acumen and get them to believe in him as a coach. In college, that is a lot easier than it is in the NFL. I hope he surrounds himself with good football people to help that process.

He will have his work cut out for him for sure.  But in the end if a player doesn't buy in then that player will be sent packing.  It's a new day and a new system in Carolina.  Get on board or get left behind.

Absolutely so, but you just hope he is the kind of guy that can command those guys for years and not a short stint before it gets stale. That is what seems to do most of our coaches in, the message eventually getting stale.

That's actually one thing he'll have to adjust to himself. Unless they violated team rules or something, you don't cut college players.

He seems like a guy who really throws himself into helping his guys. Wonder how he'll handle having to let some of them go.

Obviously you can't have Rivera's "everyone should leave on their own terms" philosophy. We know that doesn't work.

What did our old coaches in was not cutting those players who found their message stale. Look at what Carol and Belichick do. They don’t care who you are.

I hope this guy has the same mentality.

All coaches have a shelf life with a team.  Very few last more than a fews years and even fewer last more than 8 or 10.  He has about 5 years to produce back to back playoff appearances before his seat gets hot.  I think he can pull it off.

I am not sure that was really the issue because I think most of the team seemed to support him.

Having to cut players will be a new experience for him.

Hard to say how that's gonna go.

I'm surprised Scot hasn't been posting any of the Athletic articles that provide quotes from former players and coaches. Had some good ones from Chris Snee, who spoke to how Rhule earned his trust and respect as an OL coach despite never playing that position. I think he'll do fine getting buy in from pro guys. He's never had a problem doing it before.

That's good to hear. I guess now the big wait is to see who ends up on our staff and our front office.

I was about to post a similar thread on this. I was watching the interview with Cann and he pretty much said this will be a rebuild and we have to Trust The Process.

Not sure if that is good or bad news for Cam Newton. As many have said if we keep Cam Newton there is no way we have a chance at Lawrence next year. Im curious if his process will include a broken down Cam Newton in the future.

Im curious to see what he has to say about Cam Newton in his press conference today.

He probably won’t say much other than he’s a great player. Definitely won’t go into specifics about his status with the team
