I completely agree with you which is why I'm hoping that all these hot rumors flying suggesting that it's a foregone conclusion that we move on from Cam are wildly inaccurate.

FWIW none of that was really directed AT you i've honestly just been saying the same thing in every thread I post in lol. Anyways I hear you man. Here's to hoping for the best.

While we're all poo posting terrible ideas for the future...

I wouldn't be shocked if something like this went down. It seems like we're hell-bent on going the full rebuild route and that's what Rhule has done in both of his college stops. From a physical tools perspective, Trubisky has everything Joe Brady should want in a QB to bring his offense to the NFL. So should Cam, but all the tea leaves seem to point toward the Panthers moving on from Cam. There's probably gonna be a lot of talk about the Panthers moving up to #1 to get Joe Burrow but the cost would probably be astronomical and the roster has a ton of holes that would have to go unaddressed for that to happen.

Meanwhile, in Chicago Nagy's seat has to be one of the warmest in the NFL going into next season. He was supposed to bring a KC style offense to Chicago and it's an understatement to say that hasn't quite worked out. Trubisky is getting a lot of the blame for that but in the games I've watched I don't think that's necessarily a completely fair assessment. If Nagy thinks Cam is the best bet to save his job then I'm sure he'd be all for getting him. Chicago as an overall team certainly seems a lot closer to compete for a SB than the Panthers and if they think Cam can get them over that hump I could absolutely see some sort of Cam for Trubisky trade going down. If Trubisky doesn't work out for the Panthers, there's a very good chance we'll be high in next year's draft and then we can look at options like Lawrence and Fields. In terms of cap hit, we'd save close to $10M.

I'm a huge Cam fan and I want to stick with Cam, but if you're moving on from Cam this is a move that could potentially make sense for both parties. The Bears make a hail mary effort to capitalize on a potential SB window while the Panthers get to kick the tires on a young QB who has similar physical tools to Joe Burrow with no long-term commitment.

Flame away.

My  question would be ...is this  a straight

up trade , a trubisky plus,  or a Cam plus deal ?

Nah, I don't think it'd be a straight up trade. I'm thinking something along the lines of Trubisky and a 2nd for Cam. Something like that.

Worth noting: the Bears have two 2nd rounders this year.

Lads, I do believe the world has officially gone mad.

Hold me.

Moving on from a former MVP QB who's 30 years old and has a middle of the road starting QB cap hit is madness, but it from the sound of it, madness is where we're heading.

We might already be in a "this is our best bad plan" type scenario.

You sure they're warm? I think the equivalent of NFL rigor mortis has kicked in, if not downright decay.

heck man, I endorse bringing Clausen back.  This is a true rebuild IMO.  The 2021 draft should be our focus.  Acquiring picks and obtaining a high draft position.

I am prepared for short term pain.  one season of it at least.

Yeah, I'm definitely not specifically arguing against what you're saying; a lot of different sh*t is on the table right now and few things would surprise me.

It's just that the mere existence of this thread title is evidence that we're entering a frightening new world. And I want to go home. And I want my mommy.

My issue would be Cam's value and getting comparable back. The point that was made about if we suck then we can get Lawrence, I would like that part of getting Trubisky but him sucking (which is more likely than him not sucking IMO) means we get no value back for Cam.

We can get a crappy QB to help us tank for a lot less than Cam. Hell we have Grier.

Yes...I'd take that in a heartbeat...
