Baylor's Sean Padden hired as VP of Football Operations

This is one hire I don't like at all.  I'm ok with the college coaches because coaching football & leadership translates.  This VP position was supposed to be all about pro scouting/cap management and allow Marty to focus on college scouting.  Padden has 0 experience in the NFL/scouting/salary cap management.

It's cause Rhule has no NFL connections. Put me on record as this whole thing ending in unmitigated disaster.

I won't lie, I have been very concerned about most of his hires. This is either going to go really well or be the darkest time period in Panthers franchise history.

not sure this is the same role that Tepper alluded to in the beginning. maybe there are two VP jobs open for the Panthers right now?

I hope this is right correct.  Maybe the position Padden was hired for is a "liason" between FO and football staff.  That translates much better than anything requiring NFL scouting & cap management.

We won 1 divisional matchup last year under Ron Rivera and finished on an 8 game losing streak. The season before that we also finished on a lengthy losing streak. I guess we could end up worse somehow but this would have to be the worst staff in NFL history to do worse than Ron and his cronies the last few seasons.

    • I did not want to start or even think about *if* BY reverts back to pre-non last 9 games.   There is a lane in which Panthers are looking QB after this season, I feel its higher than most will realize. I mean....not kidding... has any team ever traded up to 1st overall twice in the teams history? I don't even want to think within 3 years, just foresee Tepper squeezing Dans and Brandts sacs to the point were they are forced to trade up for a another savior.....   The kicker is I feel this way with BY playing good-great..... I think there with be non-fixable problems for contract negotiations between BY&reps vs Panthers org on the whole. You can not pay 50+ million per over few years with 70% guarantees for 3,303 yards 15 TDs and 9 INTs......Cursed I tell you....
    • It's not surprising, but it's still surprising that many of these guys don't manage their money in such a way that provides them and their families a better lifestyle than most for the rest of their lives without even working a nine-to-five. I can't imagine making over a 100 mil for a decade and ultimately ruminating about supporting my family due to financial issues.
    • That why i mentioned the KC dynasty. Those three different playoff loses were not Allens fault, in fact 1-2 plays and Bills win. KC just have better players and better coaches and more luck.  Defense-wise, Bills have been trying to crack the Reid-Halhomes magic. Its near impossible with rules and KC home field advantage. Spags has started to force the league in naming him the best DC in NFL history. I agree if you take away Bill bielacheat.... Add in Andy Reid the best QB coach and brilliant play designer/play-caller, I mean that's too much for one QB to over-come on his own.  Just trolling or not, bad is bad scot. Allen is legit as any one QB has ever been.
