Mr. Scot

I have no idea why anyone with other options would take an "assistant GM" role behind Marty Hurney.

If you wanna get somebody like Caserio, you'd have to hope that Marty either resigns or gets reassigned.

If neither of those things happens, I'm ready to conclude Tepper doesn't have a clue what he's going.

Jury is definitely still out on Mr. Tepper. Really pulling for the guy but some.of the decisions he's made so far could really blow up in his face

(kinda doubt it)

cue Tepper as the Godfather or something.....everyone has a price

Plus I'm p sure any assistant GM will be guaranteed to have the fast track to the full position.

Well, I would've guaranteed that any new owner would've gotten rid of Marty Hurney before the ink dried on the closing of the purchase of the team and yet here we still are...

USA Today's guy is predicting that we won't even bother looking till then...

Panthers won't fill Assistant GM job until after 2020 Draft

Quote

That sounds nice, but there’s a possibility they didn’t want to wait this long and they have already missed out on their preferred candidate.

The Panthers requested an interview with then-Eagles executive Andrew Berry. Because the position they had in mind for him was not technically a step up, Philly was able to block the interview. Berry has since been hired by the Browns as their new GM.

Part of the problem is the continued presence of Marty Hurney looming large over the front office. The most qualified candidates may not want to accept a position under him and will hold out for better opportunities.

That said, Hurney has a strong record in selecting quality players in the first round of the draft and it’s clear team owner David Tepper values his expertise in college scouting.

Better get ready for option 3. I already think he has no clue since he said Hurney knows alot

Give him a break. Dude just bought a football team and a trophy wife about the same time. He's trying to figure out how both work. Chances are he'll just throw wads of cash at both of them and hope it works. Sometimes it does.
