Yeah .. he'd have to be healthy to stay or go

The question before was, will Cam get healthy?

Now it is - will we trade a healthy Cam Newton? And the answer to that question is common sense if you ask me

No one is asking you though.

Panther fans need to condition themselves to the fact that Cam Newtons days as a starter may very well be over.

Cam, like all scrambling QBs, lasted about 5 - 7 years and the excessive wear on the body from being hit from his runs.

Lamar Jackson is in the same boat, in another 5 years he will be toast. RG3, Newton, Jackson, Vick: just name any scrambler and I will show you a short NFL career.

Russell Wilson has been lucky so far.

Cam has always ran out of necessity, not because he was trying to hide his passing game. He did not have a WR or RB he could throw it 5 yards to that could take it to the house for 80 .. now he does.

Wait, werent you just saying 2 days ago that an offensive line doesnt matter?

Sweet Christ you are dense.  They are not going to build a franchise from the ground up on a perpetually injured qb no matter what he costs.  They are not going to play him this year and then turn around and give him a mega deal.  If they let him walk then thats one year wasted of the process.  Right or wrong they (Rhule and tepper) are starting completely over.  Why the hell you cannot see this when literally everyone is saying he is gone is beyond me.  You are either mildly retarded or a troll.

Cam is a 59% completion thrower and is 71-59 career.  He is good but he aint what you are making him out to be.

Cam is 71-51 when healthy. To hold the last 8 games against him is disingenuous. And he isn't perpetually injured. He started nearly every game of his career with the exception of 2018-2019. There isn't player they could draft that could be better than Cam if he's healthy. That's the dilemma. The prospect of getting Cam back healthy gets the Panthers winning quickly. Plus he would be cheap in a one year evaluation and Tepper wouldn't have to lose all credibility with the fans. If Cam leaves and balls out then that shows Tepper cares entirely too much what the media and other people think. There's a high chance we are in the gutter for a long time if we just expect to draft a star QB.

career 59% thrower and that is what he did in his mvp season.

Well that just shows you that the stats don't matter with a player like Cam. We went to the superbowl that year. Drew Candyass Brees has a high completion percentage, but he chokes when the game is on the line, so what?

Cam plays the game to win. You can't critique his passing without understanding the context of his game and consider rushing stats to effect that. Why would Cam throw a 5 yd pass to Devin Funchess on 3rd down when he know's he will drop the ball. Cam has been virtually an automatic conversion on 3rd and short. The smart play has always been for him to rack up those plays himself because it can rarely be stopped. The Panthers have always ran a high risk high reward offense with long developing plays, "set up runs", and minimal safety valve receiving options. It wasn't until Norv came along and that changed, and Cam proved he could be highly effective at it.

    • Over previous years? Sure is 😆
    • An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce. Here's a bit of truth telling though: There are, in fact, things Bryce does well. Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here. He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games. On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.  And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't. The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong. All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳 Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan". Oy 🙄 The reality though?  Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse. Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours  I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best. And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong. Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁
