Person: Trading up for Burrow is an option for the Panthers

Say what you want about Eli, but the Giants won two SBs with him.

That was such a win for the Chargers, but the better ran organization certainly did more with what they got than the Chargers did.

I really hope we don't mortgage the future on a prospect with an astronomical rise, and the wishes of a 30 year old OC that has never called plays before.

Could it work out?  Sure.  Will it?  Doubtful.

That's the thing. Everyone talks about "winning" the draft or "winning" free agency. It doesn't matter. It's about winning football games. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is what happens on the field. Did the Chargers "win" that trade? Yeah, they probably did in a vacuum. But, the Giants won two SBs and that's really all that matters when it's all said and done.

Giants were already in the top 5, not trading to get in. They didn't have to give up an arm and a leg, just the leg.

He's not really suggesting they could trade up. Just mentioning an instance where taking a QB in the top five worked out well.

Plus NY landed the QB the trade was based on since Eli publicly said he wouldn't play for the team that picked him. That is a lot of leverage and they still had to send their 3rd that year and then their 1st and 5th the year after and a player. And that was from the 4th spot with the QB they really wanted once Eli told them no.

I would only want to be on the other side of this proposed trade.

I do not get this thinking. Look at the Bengals roster and its better than the Panthers. It would take at least 3 first plus good mids too. By most accounts the panthers will be picking 1st (or top 3) next year when another prime QB will be waiting like most years. Take the pain this year and earn the 1st overall pick next year. Take either a kings ransom or pick the QB and start the dynasty in 2021. 2021 would be a quicker path, they may never overcome giving up all the picks for Burrow.

Check it out, they have better young talent than the panthers. I was a little shocked too, this current panthers roster is a joke. Miami maybe the only team with less overall talent than the panthers. That will change once the draft is over tho, panthers have the worst roster in the NFL.

Honestly, you never know what you have until the games start. How about last season? How was our roster before the season started?

What about 2015? How was our roster before that season started?

You just never know how things will play out.
