Russell Okung is the highest rated LT we have had since Gross

He has a green rating every year in the league other than when injured multiple times last year which limited games played. He is the highest rated tackle we have had since Gross (yes higher than Michael Oher). With that being said...give me a break... I am trying to be a glass half full type of guy...If you want an “I’m worried” and doom and gloom post go pie an @Mr. Scot post lol

I think Charger's fans have heavily underated him. I'm reading everything from their fanbase, and you can tell they have no idea what it's like not having a legitimate left tackle. They honestly think that Trai Turner is going to solidify their line.

Yeah idk At least im going into next season with low expectations. I’ll be surprised if we have a good season but at least it will be interesting and we can hope for growth on our young team in a new system, rather than having Super Bowl hopes with an all vet team, just to end up with 5 wins

I never mentioned Trai. Not sure what I’d do with him, but signing an aging Okung doesn’t feel like a huge upgrade over what the Panthers already had.

No you're right. What does Trai Turner have anything to do with a player for player trade.

I don't really give a damn how full somebody thinks my glass is. It's completely full if you count the air anyway (so I've been told).

What annoys me is watching the Panthers repeatedly do things that are iffy. One of those is going after older, recently injured players that used to be good in the hope that they'll suddenly be good again. Matt Paradis was the most recent move of that sort, but not the only one.

There's also the habit of copycatting what worked for someone else, but not doing it quite as well. We tried making Shaq Thompson a "buffalo nickel" expecting to copy what Seattle had done, but it didn't pan out. In the same way, I feel like in this case we could be trying this in part because it worked for the Rams with Andrew Whitworth.

Could it work out? Maybe, but given our track record I'm not expecting much.

It was a light hearted joke. I agree with you but I hope it works out. It was a confusing trade, but hopefully it ends up in our favor. If not at least we are free of contracts after next year.

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.
    • Petey Pablo raises up for the Carolina Panthers pregame at the Roaring Riot tailgate. videoplayback (30).mp4
    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
