Panthers To Allow Cam Newton To Seek Trade

I've seen way more people saying the team did a sh-tty job handling this than I've seen people blaming Newton.

Whether you agree with it or not, choosing Bridgewater over Newton was a valid option, but the team absolutely dropped the ball in the way they executed it.

Hard to blame Newton for being pissed given the circumstances.

Yeah, the way the FO handled this was just horrible. It wasn't going to be easy to begin with, but they managed to make it worse.

Pretty sure that, in the inevitable 30 for 30 about Cam's career, when they talk about this, they'll say " But, there was one hit he he could never recover from".

Hearing the Bears may make a trade for him since they don’t want to get into a bidding war if Cam is released in a few days!

Lets hope that is true, because losing him for nothing will look really bad especially if he bounces back. And he has a good chance of doing that with Chicago. That team doesn't even need a 100% Cam to win it all. They just need a QB who wont fuuck it up!

you mean like saying it was laughable we would get rid of cam

I don't remember him saying that but I do know he hated the idea.

Again, what someone thinks will happen and what they want to happen are two different things.

This was very frustrating a couple months ago to me.

This is what I thought would happen, but it's not what I wanted to happen.  Seemingly a LOT of posters on this forum don't understand the difference.

Might as well just go ahead and cut him now, there is clearly no market for him now. We owe it to him to let him to let him be a FA before the rest of these QB's fill the backup spots. His only options imo are the Chargers and maybe the Redskins.

Forgot the Patriots

They have been trying to trade him for months now.  The only offer we've heard of was from da bears, which I honestly do not believe but whatever.    They selfishly held onto him hoping that conditions would change so that they could get something for him. All the while working on plan B.  You now see the fruits of that labor.   Cam has been a dead man walking for a long time with this FO.  I agree that this could have been handled much better than it has so far but it's water under the bridge now.

The Patriots don't necessarily have any great impetus to trade for him because they know if he's released, they're likely his top choice.

Heck, even the Chargers seem willing to wait us out now.

Seriously starting to look like we're not getting jack.

This was clear from the beginning with his health concerns. It's almost like they knew this. Why wait until FA to announce he is on the trade block?

Makes you wonder if they did this out of spite. They basically fuged his chances at getting a starting job. They waited till all the FA QB's signed with their new teams while basically limiting Cam's options.

We handled this all wrong point blank.

It's not spite.

It's stupidity.

They've screwed themselves out of getting anything back for him. Pretty sure that wasn't the plan.
