Why Haven't The Panthers Cut Cam Yet?

Because they don't have to, and are holding out hope for getting something in return.

Also, they may have to work through an injury settlement, and let's just say that Cam and the Panthers brass are probably not on the very best of speaking terms right now.

Because Teddy hasn't been able to do a physical yet and he has a knee that's been through the equivalent of a car getting wrapped around a telephone pole then plummeting off a cliff before bursting into flames.

If Bridgewater were to fail his physical (which, for the record, is highly unlikely) yikes!

Wow you might be the worst so called Panthers fan on this forum. You need to be banned, don't know why people picked you to be a mod. Maybe one day, but until then damn.

What I said is accurate. Teddy had the most severe knee injury possible. That's accurate. We're not signing him to a contract before he passes a physical. That's accurate. Sorry you got all up in your feels, again.

And Cam is out because of giving him a new contract after injury isn't financially prudent. Then they get a guy, with all due respect, with a very horrific injury history and give him more $. Dumb. Spiteful. Petty.

OP,

Why would we cut Cam now when there is still a chance a team could trade for him?

You hold him to the last day possible.

That effectively screws him out of a chance to get a starting job elsewhere, though. And all indications are that nobody's trading for him. Heck, the Bears were so unsure of his health status they decided Nick Foles would be a better option.

Latest word is that the team will cut him as soon as Bridgewater is official, but things are so complicated now no one knows when that will be.

They could decide to just go ahead and let him go anytime, though.

    • It would depend on how we lost... If we lose a bunch of 17-13 . 20-7 type games where the defense plays well and offensively Bryce is sh***TING the bed...then he wouldn't get fired.  If we are losing 40-9, 38-14 type games..then yeah it's a possibility.   Couple that with our tough schedule.. if we show well in lets say half those games.. win either Seattle or New England game, at least 1 win vs division oponents.. he's good.  So imo.. to get fired he needs to : Loose badly against the top tier teams ie Blown out Show no progress offensively from last year. Show an unwillingness to bench Bryce again if he is horrible over multiple games ..  Get swept by the Saints again.
    • I think he's gone, and rightfully so, if he turns in another losing record. The "talented roster," regardless of how true or not, is a double-edged sword. If the roster is so much improved now from 202X then why are you still producing losing seasons? On one hand, maybe that's what needs to happen. Have the GM hire the new coach, and then have the new coach pick his guy to run his system. That is typically how it works in the NFL. Not the forced inheritance deal we have had in place.
    • Hinging on Brooks to be our spark...be good if it happens... but not holding my breath....RB next draft. Morgan gambled...it would be a 2 year payoff if thing happened.
