Why you want Isiah Simmons..

Not a great game for Simmons.. He got blocked a few times.. He got beat in coverage a few times and he overran some plays.. He still was a impact player thoe..

That was like the 2nd game of the season and Clemson was still figuring things out. They lost some guys after 2017, plus the Kelly Bryant vs TL QB battle made a difference.

Clemson manhandled them the next year with arguably them having a better then that year.

I think the main selling point with Simmons is that as the league moves to base 3 WR sets your LBs HAVE to be able to cover, aka you basically have to have safeties at LB.

Luke was unparalleled in his play recognition, coverage ability for a LB and ability to tackle. He's a unicorn.

I don't know if Simmons is that kind of player, but it honestly doesn't really matter. What he is going to be is what we tried to do with Shaq Thompson two years ago.

Move Shaq to MLB. Profit.

NYG are the biggest liability to take him in the top 7 for sure, and yall know Gettleman probably loves Simmons

I am about 70% confident this is the pick if we do not trade back.

I am about 60% confident that we will trade back if we are offered a fair deal.

I still think the Panthers are looking at the draft like this:

Option 1: Tua (or God forbid they like Herbert), it makes this wonky offseason make a lot more sense if you KNEW your franchise guy you were getting this year. Not saying I agree with the plan but it fits.

Option 2: Okudah or Simmons. Arguably the 3rd best and 4th best prospects in the draft. If one's available you take them at 7.

Option 3: Trade Down. The more the days pass the more I think this is the most LIKELY scenario. We have holes all over the place and picking up extra picks is obviously crucial to helping that.

I don't agree with one..

If that was the plan you wouldn't be making a 35 million investment in TB.. And he wouldn't be talking like they promised him the defacto starting job..

You make the investment so that you can have a legit QB for the rookie to learn under and remain competitive. Bridgewater's deal is actually a steal looking at starting QB numbers rn.

You could do that cheaper by signing a Brian Hoyer, McCown or Andy Dalton.. They've done the QB grooming thing and know they don't have a chance to be the long time starter.. TB isn't here to help, groom or be a Bridge QB for anybody.. He is only looking to help himself.. And he is talking like they gave him assurances that for atleast 1 season he has a chance to prove himself.. I don't think they brought him here to draft his replacement the same season..   I don't see the logic in lying to TB and paying him (more then bridge QB money) for 2 years guaranteed to groom a younger QB while he is in his prime..

If Tua is somehow there you don’t pass at 7. TB can be the starter for a year

If Tua is there you fleece another team for picks.  When did Tua become this can't miss prospect??.. Has he made it thru a season yet??

Bring in another QB Especially Tua after cutting Cam and watch the hell storm fly.  Tepper isn't that stupid..

The dude is a stud. Honestly, I don't really want him but the dude is a stud. I've just seen way too many stud Panthers LBs get derailed by injury that at this point I have to think we're just cursed. I also think he would just be getting swallowed up by opposing OL since we're probably going to have one of if not the worst DL in the NFL until we can rebuild that unit.

The whole swallowed by Oline thing is why (IMO) you don't put him at MLB.. I put him on the outside and let him roam..

Lack of quality DE play was a big part of our problem against the run last year. If those guys can't set the edge your outside backers are getting swallowed up too.
