Teddy Bridgewater vs. the Field

Well he is a JAG, but I could live with those numbers. It just seems like a large contingent of folks on here think he will be Clausen level of suckitude.

I don't think many here actually think he is going to be terrible. His track record is....average. So I think the bulk of people expect similar results to what we have seen from him so far in his career.

Remove the salary from the equation, that's too tough to compare and it has a lot of factors that complicate it.

And getting off into the weeds for "what gets us our next QB quicker" is not the intent of this. I am just trying to actually compare our starter to the rest of the league and which QB's specific people would want/favor.

For me, Wentz and Stafford are very easy choices over Bridgewater. Far superior QB's, although both with big injury red flags.

Getting to the next Franchise QB is how I see Ted. I'm just not that emotionally invested in Ted as our QB but just the QB for now. Maybe that changes or not but the guys that I consider 'I wish we had better' category all get mushed together. Not trying to derail your thread just that's what I see this situation.

Stafford is a guy that has the tools but is just not top tier. Stafford can never have the salary removed. That dude has made vastly more money than he should ever have. He is also part of why that team is not great. Megatron gave that dude stats he shouldn't have and Megatron took the brunt of it.

Yeah, I think most reasonable people can see Teddy is a stop gap solution. Why exactly we went that road, I am not sure. Maybe just to make Brady feel more comfortable installing this offense and keep the heat off him.

I don't hold Stafford's salary against him any more than I would any other player. He's been a very good QB in this league and has produced(even after Megatron) at a high level. He just gets dumped on because he is on a poo team. Four of his five highest completion percentage seasons were without Megatron. Two of his top five passing TD seasons were without Megatron. I am telling you, man, Stafford is pretty underappreciated as a QB in the NFL.

I think you nailed the warm blanket that Ted is. It kind of makes some sense. Familure and can help set up his O and for an OC that has never called plays that may be a great thing vs a rookie or some unknown.

Maybe I am being harsh on Stafford, I just can't see him as a QB I would fear playing against or believe he could get it done if he was our QB.

Revisionist history lol. Bridgewater was hailed as an up and coming QB before he destroyed his leg. Its taken him 3 years to recover and he has had opportunity to sit and learn behind the best. People still have their hater glasses on. With those 2 skilled players we are talking about, Teddy beat Dak, put an ass whooping on Seattle and wilson, completely out played Winston and the bucs, and embarrassed tribusky and company.

I'm not saying the kid is the second coming or anything but you gotta give him his fair due.

lol why'd this post get pooed so hard? anyway,

Josh Allen - allen

Fitzpatrick/Tua - tua

Jarrett Stidham - bridgewater

Sam Darnold - bridgewater

Lamar Jackson - Jackson.

Joe Burrow - burrow

Baker Mayfield - mayfield

Ben Roethlisberger - bridgewater

Deshaun Watson - Watson.

Philip Rivers - bridgewater bc rivers was a turnover machine last year

Gardner Minshew - bridgewater

Ryan Tannehill - tannehill at this stage

Drew Lock - if we're talking future, i'd take lock, otherwise i'd take teddy

Patrick Mahomes - mahomes

Derek Carr - carr

Tyrod Taylor/Justin Herbert - bridgewater

Dak Prescott - prescott

Daniel Jones - jones

Carson Wentz - wentz

Dwayne Haskins/Kyle Allen - bridegwater

Nick Foles/Mitch Trubisky - bridgewater by a landslide

Matt Stafford - stafford

Aaron Rodgers - rodgers

Kirk Cousins - cousins, his choking problems are overstated and he hasn't been the vikings issue the last 2 years.

Matt Ryan - ryan

Drew Brees - brees

Tom Brady - brady

Kylar Murray - right now bridgewater, longterm murray

Jared Goff - goff

Jimmy Garappolo - garrapolo

Russell Wilson - russ

overall i'd only take him over stidham, trubs, haskins, tyrod, injury riddled ben, minshew, rivers  and darnold. if we're talking longterm i believe lock and murray have much higher potential, so i'd probably prefer to have them on our team however as of right now teddy's likely the better player.

Teddy can win when surrounded by an elite team. So can the Ryan Tannehills and Matt Cassels of the NFL. We aren't going to be able to put an elite team around him this year.

It was stated in this topic that NO doesn't have elite talent on offense besides the o line and Thomas, maybe kamara. I am just saying.

also what the hell's up with all this revisionist history on stafford? he's surrounded by a horrid organization and has never had a running game to speak of. even packers fans would agree he's a good qb. i'd easily take him over dak, top 10 qb when healthy. looking at wins and losses ignores context, but i guess barry and calvin were bad too because they never won anything on an organization that can't properly build around them.

"so if you ignore the fact that they have an elite offensive line, arguably the best wr in football, and a probowl RB, which is 7/11 positions on the field not counting brees who is a 1st ballot hall of famer, their offensive talent really isn't all that elite."

edit: for the record i know that the guy im quoting isn't trying to say this im just simply saying that the idea of them not having elite talent on offense is laughable considering they have atleast 7/11 spots filled out without even factoring drew
