Comparing Jordan's practice demeanor to a Panthers player...

I think TD is a good call but the reality is that we’ve probably never had a single player as focused on winning at all cost. That’s probably the same for most professional sports franchises.

In Americans sports I would say LeBron (who I’ve never been a fan of but I can’t deny his mentality) is probably the closest think. Christiano Ronaldo (who I can’t stand) is also neck and neck with Jordan as well as Lionel Messi (whom I do adore)

Tiger Woods to an extent. Like TD, he’s shown amazing resilience to keep going.  But again, I think LeBron, CR7 and Messi are probably the only 3 you can truly put on MJs level

Disrespect? He was a great player but a very very shitty human being. I’ve interacted with him on many occasions, probably more than anyone on here and will confirm he’s a POS and treats random people like garbage and has done so all the way back to his time at Utah state. But I won’t get into that.

Also he punched multiple people. He shattered some guys face and blinded him, ending his career and crippled him for life. He ended up paying him a poo ton in a lawsuit. But how much money would you take for one of your eyes? Didn’t make up for it.

You don’t get to act like that in life and be able to say you want respect too. Doesn’t work like that. I have zero respect for people like that, it’s not the same.

And if he didn’t want people talking poo about him should’ve thought about his actions beforehand, respectable individuals do exactly that every single day. I’m sure he thinks he’s exempt for some dumb reason, but in realty he isn’t, no one is.

So, this begs the question why you would "interact" with him.

No way. Lebron absolutely doesn't have it. Kobe and Tiger did though. Fortunately, Tiger plays a game that allows you to compete well into your years and has been able to come full circle and relax a bit and actually enjoy the game.

Like I said, I am not a LeBron Han at all so I won’t argue with you. But he’s broken the narrative that he’s not a winner imo. I was on that train for a long time and I don’t respect that way he will ditch his team to form a crazy roster elsewhere. But that’s more the nature of the league these days.

Still, no question that CR7 is at the top of this list

It's not that Lebron isn't a winner, he's just not that same type of ultra-competitive win at all costs type personality that MJ is and Kobe was.

Funny how symbolic our LBs have been over the years in terms of meaningful players to us....Davis overcomes 3 knee surgeries and becomes a pro bowler/man of the year; Luke--one of the greatest, high character players we have ever had--100% all the time; Mills--keep pounding-nuff said--but a 5-9 USFL player to what he was with us--Beason, an undersized, big hearted LB.  Morgan and Spoon--it is often easy to overlook their contributions to the team and solid friendship...We have been blessed at the position.

It's not a coincidence that we have historically put a TON of resources into the LB position.

I try not to speculate, but dang that Chinn reminds me a lot of Davis coming out of Georgia.  In fact, Chinn's combine was better than Davis--if you compare the measures they actually both did:

Height:

Davis 6-1; Chinn 6-3

Weight:

Davis 230 lbs; Chinn 221 lbs.

Arm Length:

Davis 32 inches; Chinn 32.12 inches

Hand Size:

Davis 10.25 inches; Chinn 9.6 inches

40 yd. dash

Davis 4.64; Chinn 4.48

Vertical

Davis 36.5; Chinn 41

Chinn had a 138 broad jump and benched 225 20 times—both rather impressive for a safety.

Am I saying Chinn will be converted to a LB?  No.  I am comparing his athleticism, however, to one of our best and most versatile players.  Chinn will see action in various roles--one being LB, if they call it that.

You can’t compare anyone to Jordan, the only Panther that comes remotely close is Luke Kuechly. Jordan lived basketball, dedicated every minute he could to practice and film. Luke did the same, he knew if he gets better - everyone around him would too. Luke’s on field/off field persona reminds me of a younger MJ as well. Ferocious on the field, but humble and calm off.

Loool, people are over the top with MJ its insane. Yes, he was probably the best basketball player ever, but he wasn't a saint guys. Let's be rational.

I'd almost prefer he transition to a LB when he adds some bulk. Carolina made no secret of the fact they were going to move Davis to LB, but that was a different group of people.

You can get away with hiding a guy on the back end once in a while- you can never hide the fact your LB corps suck.
