Cam is the only QB left unsigned.

I don't see a rush for him to sign anywhere right now. There's no obvious starting job or path to a starting job available at the moment. His options aren't going to get any worse moving forward. Someone will get hurt or some team will realize their QB situation straight sucks when the pads start popping.

This makes the most sense. Makes him the most money and best chance to start. Cutler came out of retirement for the Dolphins for a nice contract when Tannehill got hurt. Could see a similar situation for Cam (obviously he isn’t retired).

Just five years ago, he led this team to a magically 15-1 season and a Superbowl appearance. Finished the season MVP and now he can't get any offers from any team. I blame the former staff for doing this to him. They refused to address the o-line year after year and Cam took a beating every Sunday that now has probably ended his football career.

Rivera following the Buddy Ryan model...

Get a mobile quarterback and expect him to basically be the offense while you build a championship defense to complement him.

Offense as a necessary evil is not all that unusual a mindset for defensive coaches, those some take it farther than others.

Yep, we utterly failed to put an OL in front of him and had an offense built around him being the featured runner and slow developing downfield routes to receivers who couldn't creat separation. The end result was him taking an unholy beating.

To be fair, the 2015 line was pretty good.

Didn't last though, and Rivera never valued it highly enough to put in the effort needed to rebuild it.

After all, you don't really need an offensive line that badly when you've got a mobile quarterback, right?

That and never realizing certain coaches and players were never going to get the job done. I think anyone with half an offensive mind could have worked wonders with Cam and company. But hey, we had Mike Shula.

Rhule doesn't believe in firing assistant coaches.

Given our history with Rivera, that scares the hell outta me.

I can only hope Rhule did a better job picking his assistants.

I think he's going to find in the NFL he is going to have to adapt if he expects to be here more than 3 years. Or maybe he figures as his assistants are inevitably going to be promoted to other positions with other teams, he will just replace them. Hopefully he's really confident in his assistants.

Its idiotic to think Cam has no team due to his race. No one had an issue with him being selected number one overall. Jamies Winston was signed. Patrick Mahomes is about to be the highest paid player in NFL history. The NFL is all about one color, and that's green. If Cam could play, he'd be on a team right now. His career is over due to injuries and if he isnt signed this year, he will have had very little game experience for 3 years. Some of you want to blame everything else but the truth: his body is shot.

If you're trying to imagine a scenario where we bring Newton back, it's not happening.

Yes it will. You can tell the future? What’s the lotto #s for tonight?

    • I still think it's too soon to say last year's draft was bad. I think those who do are the eternal pessimists. We had 4 players who contributed last season. Two were starters. It's possible all 4 are starters this season. How is that a bad draft? I know it's because our roster was so bad but still, they are on this roster so it's the only one that counts.  Before I say it's a bad draft I prefer to wait and see how they play this season. It's possible we may have FIVE starters from that draft playing the season. Anyone who thinks drafting 5 starters by season two is a bad draft should visit a psychiatrist where they can get a prescription to help them live happier lives.    I'm not saying it was a success yet but I damn sure ain't calling it a failure yet. Most players don't make it. Most of those who do need a little time. One season isn't enough time which is why they are still on the team Leggete, Coker (UDFA but still we got him), Sanders, Smith-Wade and Wallace all showed promise last season. If they all take a step forward then it was a great draft. If only 1 does than it was an average draft. If they regress then and only then will I say it was a bad draft.  Fans often have unreasonable expectations compared to the reality of draft results. I believe this draft will shine as I think it's going to better due to the depth of the class but I also believe we will look back at 2024 and say that was a good class too. I think we have 5 players from that class who will be starters or rotational pieces for the next couple of years at least. That's a win.
    • Playing devils adovcate here, but if you truly wanted to trade down then it made no sense to be a smoke screen for Walker only.  Especially since Tmac is not a generational type player.  Make it known that he is in play and see if the cowboys or whoever really like him as rumored.
    • I mean everybody was, there is a difference between wanting them to draft the guy you like and accepting them drafting someone else based off all the intel and rumors. Up until draft night everybody was convinced it was gonna be walker or maybe another defensive player. If you didn't you was just crossing your fingers.
