Panthers sign rookie defensive back Troy Pride.

Pride was a track star in high school and posted a 4.4 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine earlier this year. While at Notre Dame, Pride appeared in 37 games and left school with 121 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

The Panthers drafted another cornerback in the seventh round and signed Eli Apple as a veteran free agent after Apple’s agreement with the Raiders fell through. The newcomers will join Donte Jackson at corner in Carolina this season.

Pride Junior before Chinn and YGM?   As training camp approaches, I expect more signings, but lets get the higher picks inked that's actually going to play outside of STs.  Signing picks 5-7 should be about as standard as they get.

I wasn't super excited about this pick, but he has some intriguing traits.

Eh, he and YGM was a swap in my draft wish list.  I wanted a CB in the second round and a DE early day 3.  We addressed the need at both spots, so I was happy overall.

According to sportrac, we still have 2 spots on the roster left.  We have 88 and are allowed 90.  Anyone know if we are looking to sign anyone else?

Considering the NFL isn't having a preseason, filling out those last two camp spots is pointless.  Only in the case of a guy or two that has a legit shot at making the final roster.  Otherwise, why even bother.

With camp now being 80 people we have to cut 8 before we even get to camp.

    • Sure.    ignore that he said this roster wasn’t good in 2023 to 2024 but keep up the effort
    • While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
