Matt Rhule officially owns Kliff Kingsbury

Two years ago, Matt Rhule apologized to Kliff Kingsbury for beating him in a Big 12 game that got the Texas Tech head coach fired from his alma mater. On Sunday, Rhule was even better prepared for the formations and distractions that come with a Kingsbury offense.

Rhule might have put another nail in his coffin at the pro level too.

The staff has flatt outcoached the last two opponents. It was obvious in those games that we had the dominate coaching and the other teams have duds. Its looking like we are extremely lucky in our coaching changes, even if it is still early.

The Kingsbury hire was absolutely baffling. The dude had just gotten fired from a fourth tier P5 college program where he amassed an overall losing record and he gets an NFL HC job? Dafuq? I could've seen him getting a QB coach job, but even an OC gig would've been a stretch IMO.

I get wanting to cater to your new young #1 overall pick hopeful franchise QB and honestly I commend that, but really? That's how you do it??? The dude went 16-21 in college with Patrick fuging Mahomes barely managing one winning season (7-6) out of three. If that's not a red flag, WTF would be?

There's such a difference in watching preparedness and adaptability in contrast to the stubborn rigidity and slow response time we've seen in the past.

I really like Ron (and some of our other historical coaches) for his good points fwiw, but while their strengths were indeed strong, their weaknesses were infuriating.

Kingsbury reminds me alot of a poor mans Mike Marts.  Mike Marts system worked until the O line got hurt and old and you didn't have a hall of fame QB to run it.  Knowing this, a smart person would change their system to accommodate the differences in players that he had.  Marts didn't.  He ran the system exactly the same until it got him fired.

Kingsbury is doing the same thing.  Running a system that scored a lot of points ( but didn't win many games) in college the exact same way in the NFL.  Teams are starting to catch up to it and stop it.  If he adapts and changes the system can work the question is will he.

I really liked Ron and thought he was a good coach (and still do) but I can see the value of a SMART coach.

Im excited about this rebuild.. doesn't feel like we are too far off with this coaching staff.

It sucks that we had a smart coach...

...He's killing it up in Buffalo...

Hella happy with Rhule so far though.

The whole game and all three phrases, Carolina out-coached out-played the Cardinals. The players where more aware too, during the fumble Cardinals acted like they didnt care. I know they have lost a couple SS, but the players on the field where not prepared. Very impressive that the panthers have new HC, DC, OC, QB and have been ready each game day.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
