I think that Terry actually posted another tweet or something showing he was packing and leaving shortly after that post to Gordon.

Terry bad mouthed Hayward and Celtics organization on his ESPN tour after he was traded to the Hornets.  Might be a little awkward, but they are professionals.

Bird was one hell of an executive. Magic is actually a part owner of the Dodgers who just won the World Series. Jordan is a terrible owner/executive. The only good thing he has done is brought the Hornets back. I’m not sure that he really wanted to bring the name back to Charlotte.

Of course he did. I said they no longer have meaningful roles in the NBA. Magic or Bird, true.

Owners hire and fire "executives", can't compare, not on the same level of achievement.

MJ is more successful, no question, check the bank accounts.

Irrelevant.  Incredibly unlikely.  Another low bar.

Mitch didn't have the authority to change anything, much less everything.  No credit given.

Bird was NBA Coach of the Year and NBA Executive of the Year...and NBA Player of the Year.  All Mike has done is destroy value in every executive role he's had in the NBA.

Too funny, Tepper and Mike a diametric opposites, that you'd mention them in comparison is laughable.

Hayward has missed 111 games over the last 3 seasons...or 45% (include playoffs & it's a lot more).    That's troubling.

I encourage you to do so!

Have fun.

He could have drove that plane into the ground as GM he DID make decisions. So your saying he got paid while others made his decisions!? C'mon man. That's a reach.

Hayward I'll give you that but no risk no gain.

You know more about MJ than you know about Tepper, that includes most people NOT on wallstreet so watch and wait. Those wallstreet guys are cutthroat we'll see how he does with people instead of tips and numbers. Winning in business doesn't translate to winning in the NFL. Mike learned that it's not easy and so will Tepper. Odds are in favor of that.

Yes, he was an assistant and was paid as such.  Jerry West was flying that plane, not Mitch.  After Jerry retired (2000) and Mitch did actually become the man-in-charge he inherited Shaq & Kobe....even Cho could have kept that plane airborne and on a steady path.  After Kobe aged to the point he couldn't carry the team anymore the Mitch-led Lakers accomplished a whole lot of nothing --- missing the playoffs 6-consecutive years and didn't win a playoff game for 7-consecutive years --- all under Mitch...the single worst stretch in the entire Lakers history.  Keep in mind this is The Lakers, who are located in probably the most attractive NBA market in the great United States of America.

Look, I like Mitch...he's definitely qualified for the job (Cho wasn't).  I also believe Mitch is probably in the top-1/3rd of GM's in the league...but, all the things that worked for him in LA (franchise history, location, competent ownership, funding) --- are working against him in Charlotte.  (in truth and fairness to Mitch, after Dr. Buss passed away the Lakers "ownership" transformed from highly competent...to incompetent...and this made it hard for Mitch to do the job)

Mike Jordan is (i) incompetent as a NBA owner, and (ii) he is underfunded relative to his peers.

No GM can overcome these  2 constraints...unless...they are given complete control of all basketball ops, and, they possess a skill-set akin to Pat Riley --- Mike Jordan will never allow this to happen.

If you want to learn a bit about Tepper and how he operates there's a post near the bottom of page-4 of this thread that will shed some light on it:  https://www.carolinahuddle.com/boards/topic/165865-how-nfl-executives-view-rhule/?&page=4#comments

Tepper is the opposite of Mike Jordan, entirely competent and has the heaviest wallet of all his peers -- the Panthers will run circles around the Bobcats in perpetuity (or until Mike sells to someone capable).

I don’t know why people won’t give Mitch any respect when it comes to the Lakers. He won two championships after West left to Memphis. Mitch went and got Karl Malone and Gary Payton. That team went to the Finals and lost to an amazing Pistons team. After that the guy made trades for Gasol, Odom, Ariza and Artest. Decided to keep Andrew Bynum instead of trading him away.

Because those were Jerry's teams...not Mitch's.

All the other trades amounted to nada.

Happy Thanksgiving...

PS...thoughts on Tepper?

Having success in hedge fund doesn’t mean it will make you a successful sport owner. Look at his record since being the owner of the Panthers.

Those championships were won with Jerry's kids, no credit to Mitch

Turning around the moribund Panthers franchise will take time...we're only in the top-of-the 1st in a day-night doubleheader.

Tepper will prove you wrong.

(only asked b/c I thought you were the other guy replying to out prior convo)

after hearing boston and indiana were going to give him105-110 mill , I don't really care anymore. That's the tax you have to pay as a small market team. Part of me thinks Gordon wishes he had just signed with us in 2016.

Man what could have been. We wouldn't have paid Batum

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
