3 QBs in the top 4?

I'd include others but unfortunately they are already out of the NFL. It doesn't take a genius (or maybe it does knowing this board) to understand that trading up for a "cant miss franchise Qb" has almost never worked out.

And awww crying about cherry picked stats? The record doesn't lie most teams get their Qbs outside of the top 10/first round and that is a fact no matter how bad you want to cry about it

so just to be clear, you believe the team should trade out of the top 10 to acquire a QB, because you believe that is, mathematically, the best place to acquire one

This is the synopsis of your argument yes

Are we clear

Great forward thinking. Let's draft Micah and hope within the next 100 years we draft a Brady. Get FUGGING real!

You can try and put words in my mouth if you like I'm simply talking about TRADING UP INTO THE TOP 5 FOR A QUARTERBACK, which is what the OP was suggesting we do and I merely pointed out that it was a bad idea with FACTS to back up my argument. Hmm, maybe you need glasses or something higher than a 4th grade education to understand that. Hard telling and it isn't my place to judge.

I'll say it one more time in case you still don't understand. Trading up into the top 5 for a "can't miss" Qb prospect has never worked out for the team trading up. And if you ARE drafting a Qb in the top 5 he is more likely to become a bust/not live up to expectations rather than being the super hero that saves the franchise from sucking for years!!! Rarely does it happen and trading future assets for that big of a risk is a Franchise altering mistake.

Even better lets mortgage our future on a guy that is a sure fire can't miss prospect only to watch him bust out of the league in 3 years!!! Sounds like you got it all figured out bud

My apologies. Thought you were one of those 3rd round pick QBs are as good as high first guys. Not crazy about trading up either. Matt, you made this bed. Lie in it.

Wait now it’s top 10? So you included Cam in New England but purposely made sure Mahomes and Allen were excluded? It’s funny that 3 of the teams you included had QBs that went to SBs (Goff, Cam and Ryan) but those were somehow bad picks now?

Also, saying that most teams get their franchise QBs outside of the top 10/first round is pretty interesting. From my count, the Chiefs, Falcons, Ravens, Steelers, Colts, Patriots, WFT, Panthers, Bills, Dolphins, Texans, Jets, Browns, Titans, Chargers, Lions, Bengals, Giants, Cardinals, Bears, Rams and Packers all have first round QBs. I’m counting Hurts as the Eagles starter.

Jacksonville and a few others will be adding to that list soon seeing as how Brees and Brady will be retiring soon.

That’s 22 teams that right now have 1st round QBs and likely at least a net two more after the draft. So, your assertion that most teams find their franchise QB outside of the first is incorrect. Also, out of the playoff teams, 7 of 7 AFC teams have 1st round QBs and 4 of 7 NFC teams have 1st round QBs. Of the 3 non-first round playoff QBs, 2 of them are likely retired after this year and next year. Still think most teams really find their QBs outside of the 1st round?

so the stat you're using isn't compatible with the argument

that's what you just said

How many of those teams traded up for a QB?

You tried to substitute in an irrelevant statistic to prop up a conclusion you already held because without it youd have to go all the way back to the Bob Griffin trade and nobody here was going to care what happened in cams second season here, especially when people would see it as a gross oversimplification that didn't account into the individual breakdowns of specific players

And since I doubt you're here to provide an in depth deconstruction of Zach Wilson's ability to beat cover 3, I'm guessing were probably done

Np!!! It seems we get these guys who are hell bent on trading up every year and with the high% of Qbs that bust in that area im very iffy on wanting to trade up. But I'm not surprised these threads pop up EVERY YEAR we always want to trade up or down depending on the year. I'd much rather grab the BPA Qb at 7/8 if thats the route we are going to go.

People have to understand we brought in Teddy to be our short term future that experiment has failed and unfortunately we have to live with the consequences of those decisions. This year might not be the year we get our Qb and people need to come to grips with that.

5 spots (we currently sit at 8 and could be 7 if the eagles win) but like I’ve said before we are in a great spot so have one of the top 4 QBs fall to us. If we are in love with someone at 3 I wouldn’t care giving up a 1st in order to get a franchise QB who will lead out team for years to come if it works out.

5 spots inside the Top 10 with this qb trio will cost you several first round packs.  It would be very expensive to move up from 8 to 3.

Sewell is a great talent, but Miami just drafted 3 rookies last year that all started this year.

That team better get Tua some weapons. They have one good receiver in Parker who stays injured half the time. They absolutely should trade back and take Smith/Chase

And your Point?

Washington had a probowl calibre edge rusher

Traded up into the 1st rounder in the year before for edge Rusher Montez Sweat.  But would budge off some massive trade offer from teams wanting to move up for a QB.  When there is a elite player especially at a prime position.

Heck Sewell has been hyped as the Trevor Lawerence version of OTs.  Doeant matter who the Dolphins drafted.  Theyll take Sewell.  Itd have to be very very rich to convince them otherwise

And talking about them adding weapons.  They already have a 2nd 1st rd pick that they can grab a WR with

People don't trade up into the top 5 for a Qb because its fuging retarded and costs way too much. That should be all the information you need to understand why it's a bad idea to try and trade up into the top 5. Rarely does it happen, if ever because most GMs/HCs are trying to not get themselves fired for mortgaging their team's future

Do you know how expensive it would be to go from 3 to 3? Thanks Matt and Ron. Did you guys get together to give me 3 months of hemmorhoids?

    • BY don't throw deep so they might like the red zone jump ball option
    • I really don't see it with Penix. Sure he has a strong arm, but he was just out there chucking the ball deep to a receiving corps that was better than the Panthers last season. Odunze, Polk, McMillan and Bernard is a crazy group in college! I just don't see his play style working in the NFL.
