I rank them as such: Wilson, Lance and Fields.  That being said, not much separates them, IMO.  Lance has the highest ceiling, but is obviously the rawest.  Wilson is the most ready today, but I don't see him making huge strides once in the League.  Fields?  I know people say this about Lance, but I think Fields is the biggest 'boom or bust' prospect of the three.   You just can't have the inconsistency he has from game-to-game and be a can't miss prospect.  Lance has all the tools...ALL of them.  He just needs to be coached on how to best utilize them.  I'm willing to wait a half season or even a year for that to happen.

Fair enough.  I am sure they will vet these guys as much as possible so if they choose Lance I’m cool with it.

Highly unlikely.  Next year's QB class is weaker and the Panthers should win some of those close games we lost this year in year 2 under Rhule.  Fewer quality prospects and a lower draft position.   Drafting a QB next spring makes little sense unless, for some crazy reason, this team majorly regresses next year.

I've never understood people trying to predict the future.

Mac Jones and Kyle Trask came from practically nowhere to borderline 1st round picks this year. Burrows came from literally nowhere to the #1 overall pick.

You have to let these 18/19/20 year olds develop.

Right now people are pushing Wilson and Lance based off one good year. It's the same every time.

-#8 Panthers- YES, we need a QB but will not take Mac Jones here.  Move back several spots and take him OR move WAY back and take Trask.

Roll your eyes people, yes, Trask will not only be a 1st round pick, but a top 20.  As an avid draft guy (not a self-proclaimed guru mind you) you don't get key positional runs this early without a domino effect.  If, and this is a big IF, the big 4 are gone in the first 6 or 7 pick, Jones and Trask will end up getting a much bigger pay day as a result because teams will get incredibly nervous.

(I'm going to get poo'd for this)

I think people are blinded by their hate for Bridgewater. I absolutely don't think we're tied to him - his manageable contract and comments by Fitterer / Tepper / Rhule suggest that - but he was ok last year. 3,700 yards (basically 4k combined), 20 TDs (combined), all without his best offensive weapon.

He's not the future, but he does provide you with a security blanket so that you don't have to reach for a Mac Jones or a Kyle Trask if you trade down in the first round. I've no idea where those two are going by the way, but I also wouldn't be surprised if some team has a first round grade on them - I just don't see it myself.

Jets: could sit tight and take BPA, could take qb, could trade down to a team that takes a qb (most likely imo)

fins- have a poo ton of picks already; likely sit at 3 and take a non qb

falcons- media wants them to take a qb to have a story and generate click. I don’t see it. Ryan is a top 10 qb and their D is poo. Likely non qb, but qb is possible.

bengals- not taking qb unless they trade pick to a team that does

eagles- see above

lions- potentially tacking qb but early rumors suggest they actually like Goff

panthers- obviously need qb since the team fked up and wouldn’t listen to me and signed a career backup to a 63m contract canceling out our comp picks and are chances of Trevor Lawrence

It is very conceivable ("Stop using that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means.") that the top 4 QBs are gone by Atlanta.  If teams do not want a QB, they will be given trade offers.  I could see (after Trevor goes to the Jokesonville Jags, NY Taking Wilson, Miami taking Lance, then Atlanta taking Fields.  Cincinnati would then take Sewell, the Eagles would take a WR (Chase is my guess), and Detroit would take a WR (Smith) or CB (Farley).

So what does Carolina do in this situation?  Do we trade back and hope for the fifth QB on our board falls to us?  Do we reach and take Jones?

First, we have to assume that the Panthers are interested in any of the top 4 QBs--they would all be upgrades, so let's assume they are.  That makes life easier.

You have to be ready to overpay to move up.  Many teams may be trying to get your guy--since it is a QB, the most valuable player in all of sports, you pay more.  I would send #8 and #81 (or so, 3rd rounder) AND my second rounder in 2022 to Cincinnati IF no QB is taken by one team in the top 4.

You gotta pay to play.

If the Jets take a QB and Miami takes a QB, we are in the unenviable position of trying to trade up with a division rival.  Not ideal.

So it is my impression that we have to move up to #2 or #3 to assure a QB, but I think it is a good bet that we would get one at #5---consolation prize?  Sewell LT.

If I had to guess

Darnold stays in NY
Tua stays in MIA
Ryan stays in ATL
DET drafts a QB
Wentz/Hurts stays in PHI

I do think a team not including us of course, is going to trade up into the top 10 for a QB

fully expect
Lawrence
Wilson
Lance
Fields

All to be in the top 10.

If for whatever reason Panthers cannot acquire one of the QBs on the market, I would expect them to move up to #2 or #3 for Wilson/Fields/Lance, been saying this for a while and fully believe we are all systems go. I really think the front office sees Wilson as that dude. Deshaun Watson being priority #1 obviously.

What qbs on the market do you still seeing us go after?

I still think priority #1 is Deshaun Watson. Though I do see Mitch Trubisky (ew) and Jimmy G as possibilities. IMO it's Watson or trade up to #2-#3 at this point.

I doubt there is any validity to the Cam thing. If anything the Bears pursue a guy like Matt Ryan or Taysom Hill.

I got ya, u think Carr would be a good option here? Also if we get a vet qb what u think happens with Teddy? U think he has to be traded or a chance we cut him?

    • Here are more fun facts about Peyton Manning's rookie season: Peyton ranked 3rd in total passing yards, 5th in passing touchdowns, 4th in 1st-down completions, 11th in TD%, and 8th in completions that were 20 yards or more.  Now let's look at how Bryce compared to his peers: 20th in total passing yards, 28th in passing TDs, 21st in 1st-down completions, 31st in TD%, and 27th in completions that were 20 yards or more.  To put it mildly, Peyton showed plenty of flashes as a franchise quarterback. Bryce? Not so much, almost none at all, as a matter of fact. Oh, and Peyton is legit 6'4", literally head and shoulders above Bryce. I sometimes wonder if Bryce defenders are sentient at all.
