I'm not the world's biggest Trey Lance fan but to be fair, it's kinda hard to blame anybody for opting out of last season.

if trevor lawrence could put his nuts on the table, and justin fields as well for that matter, you can do the same. i don't think it's wrong to want a quarterback that loves football more than money. there will be apologists from here to eternity, but how many other top prospects opted out?

Imagine questioning people's integrity like this to get attention on a message board, get a life

there are no matters of integrity being questioned here. there are factors of risk mitigation, injury fears, and other factors that produce cloudy judgment and doubt in a person that makes them vulnerable to escape routes and excuse making. are those traits you want in your quarterback?

i couldn't give a damn about attention. there was discourse here about trey lance and I gave my opinion. if you want to pearl clutch about that, it's your problem not mine.

This guy made the best decision for himself given the information provided at the time, let's attack his character for fun

problem here is that you've probably already fallen in love with the kid by watching youtube videos and you defy anyone to say anything negative about him because you're so locked in that you can't see past your nose,

He's fourth rated in my basement mock draft but go ahead

I don't think it's wrong to love your health more than football.

This past year was a unique situation. It's not like he was saying "nah, I don't feel like it".

by his own admission he didn't opt out because of covid, he said plainly himself that he opted out to "prepare for the NFL draft on his own." go look it up.

Sounds like a professional to me and smart. College ball means nothing except for the players that will not make it to the NFL. Just practice anyways. Go Lance.

The season was still postponed because of the virus.

Taking any of this as an indication that he doesn't love the game seems like a stretch to me.

Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields likely would have opted out of SPRING football. Has nothing to do with nuts.  They are all first round picks prepping for the NFL draft.  College football is played in the fall.   His conference should of played in the fall.

Trey Lance played every game he could of during the season.  That ended up being only 1 game.

It makes no sense for a projected draft pick (not just first round) to go put a beating on their body in a spring season in advance of the NFL summer camps and fall season.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
