Who had a better rookie season - Cam in 2011 or LaMelo this year?

Cam rookie season is consider 1 of the greatest rookie QB season ever.. He broke Atleast 10 records and ushered in a new identity to QBing..

Lamelo is killing it but it's still not a all time rookie season.. Cam rookie year is more comparable to Lebron and Magic's rookie year..

this is where I am I think.

Cam's rookie season actually was more impressive stacked up vs those that came before him than if you did that same thing w/ Melo.   But basketball is basketball and one man has a much bigger impact on a season.

It's not a Hornets issue it's what's happened to the game. The soccer-style flopping is just out of control. Hell, if I wasn't such a huge UNC fan I'd be done with basketball altogether. I very rarely watch a basketball game that doesn't involve UNC.  That's a big change for me. Growing up, basketball was hands down my favorite sport, both as a participant and as a fan.

I'm sorry you have this opinion but this year has been one of the most entertaining in years... Alot of top teams and young upcoming teams battling.. Different style of basketball being seen on a nightly basis..

Big man are coming back and the guard play on a nightly basis is incredibly..

I'd give the edge to Cam.  Cam really set a new baseline for all subsequent top picks because of how he performed in his rookie season.  It was unthought of that a rookie could pass for 4k yards... and that is completely disregarding the absurd 14 rushing touchdowns he put up.

Melo is leading the Hornets to the playoffs, but I don't necessarily think he is resetting the standard for how top rookies should be expected to perform moving forward like Cam did.

This is arguably the most fun/entertaining Hornets team we’ve seen in like 20 years. It’s not too late to hop back on board.

The counter argument to that is that the most fun team we’ve seen in 20 years currently doesn’t even have home court advantage in a potential first round series.

there is less than 0 parody in the nba. We have potentially the best chance at a superstar we’ve ever had in lamelo and still would need about 5-6 unlikely things to happen to even sniff the chance at winning a championship.

Every time I turn on a game, there's ridiculous flopping all over the place. They gotta reel it in. Way too much acting in the game.

*Pariety*  But you also add to why I can't watch it 2-4 teams are the only ones that have a shot..... The Hornets are 20-18 from what I've heard Ball had been great.... but they will be dusted in four games in round one.

Again I just don't see all this flopping you claim is ruining the game.. Agree to disagree..

I think the league is in the best shape it's been in years...

Disagree with this as well..

You have 6 teams at the top right now who can say their true title contenders.. Utah, Brooklyn, Lakers, Philly, Clippers and Denver..  You have teams in the middle who could challenge if their star gets hot in the playoffs Boston, Milwaukee, Portland, Dallas, and Phoenix.. Then you have a few young teams that can take a few of the top teams to long series and win a few playoffs game.. Charlotte, New York, New Orleans, Spurs, and Memphis... I like how this league is stacked up.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
