People are just happy to see a qb who can throw downfield....in-line teddy who was a check down machine

Don’t mind people like that. He probably wouldn’t praise Darnold unless he threw a game winning pass in the Super Bowl. It’s perfectly fine for fans to be excited about their new QB.

Believe me, I get it....Sam has proven nothing in the NFL, on the contrary.

Sam’s RS freshman year, he was not the starter, even though the buzz from the defensive players and the press about this amazing true freshman QB leading the scout team.  The coaches went with the 5* who waited his turn.  It was a disaster, the coaches were on the flaming hot seat.  In goes Sam, saves the jobs of the coaching staff.  That year, they just let him be Sam, didn’t stifle him, didn’t attempt to correct anything.

Sam’s final year, they announced a new offensive plan, to “help” Sam’s development, they called it the “gumbo” offense.  Disaster.  He was looking toward the sidelines every play, not letting him act on what he saw from the opposing defenses.  I can assure you, that is one of the reasons he declared early.  The entire offensive staff ended up getting fired.

The Jets was an even greater nightmare.  They had not taken a single offensive player in the first two rounds in 10 years, Olinemen in the later rounds...seriously, who does that?  They’re supposed to be a professional football franchise. They pulled the same BS that the SC coaches did.  Why do you draft a QB with playmaking backyard FB abilities, and handcuff him?  With no weapons he can get the ball to?  Sam can be an offensive line’s best friend, because of his mobility.

Not saying he’s going to be this amazing elite QB, but at least give him a chance to be who he is, while coaching him up.  He has weapons now, good ones, and an elite RB.  Just let him do plays like this...again, with Robby.

If there is any fanbase prepared to watch a QB run for his life and improvise, its us.  We watched a guy do that all the way to the MVP.

edit: And that guy didn't have Anderson/Moore/McCaffrey

He is no Cam Newton in that regard, but he can buy you time. Unfortunately, Sam has a chance in Carolina that Cam never had..,just as Wilson gets the chance Sam never had in NY.  Just pisses me off that Alijah Vera Tucker was drafted by the jets.  Our fanbase wasn’t happy either. All of us are happy for Sam.  We hope he lives up to the faith his new coaches and organization has in him.

Fight On Sammy, you finally have an honest to goodness pro team behind you.

People like me? When Teddy deserved praise, I gave it. When he was trash, I called it out. I’m looking forward to Darnold being the QB here. This was a poor take.

If you were the person pooing on someone for being excited about Sam, then yes, you. If you weren’t doing that, then no, I wasn’t talking about you.

Pooing? I said the WR slowed down at the end. That’s not anything other than a fact. The guy you quoted, was quoting me.

Your post to me came off as a shot at people that are excited about a new QB. Critiquing a practice throw in May is a little much, wouldn’t you say? Who cares if fans are excited about Sam. Your post came off like you do.

It's exactly what he was doing and it's what the cool kids on the huddle do to get pie from each other

If Sam spends the year making big plays like this and learning his role within the offense and taking what defenses are giving him I'll gladly take that. There will be mistakes along the way but for now I just want to be competitive again and not the doormat of the division.

    • I like Jaycee a lot and appreciate his leadership but to say he's above Ramsey right now is based on hopium let's be realistic. He's got a great deal to prove this season. I’m hoping to see that he firmly establishes himself amongst his peers.
    • It’s amazing how simple it is. When you are winning 2-7 games for 7 straight years, you’d think people would understand that just drafting some starters isn’t poo unless they are above average NFL starters. Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase started their rookie years like Legette did so we got an elite WR in the 2024 draft. Luke was a rookie starter just like Wallace. Damn we basically got a Kuechly and Jefferson last year. Bravo Dan Morgan!!!
    • I didn’t even say they would be starters. I don’t think Legette will be and Coker was not drafted. Coker chose to sign with us because our WR room gave him a chance to start even though we drafted a guy in the 1st. That should tell you something when Coker chose to come to Carolina even after we took Legette. We drafted and signed guys to potentially replace Sanders, who isn’t a starter yet over Tremble) and Wallace. Go look at our other drafts since Rhule. We had tons of rookie contribution from all of our recent classes. Why, because our overall talent sucked and we needed bodies. Go look at PFR. Here’s some of our players who “started” for a year: TMJ, Mingo, BC, Ian Thomas, Jermaine Carter, Dennis Daley, YGM and Roy. That’s what Legette and Wallace are right now although unless TMac bombs, Legette has kind of already lost his spot. We’ve had shitty drafts since 2018 and every single one has contributed at least two guys who’ve started so 2024 is tied for last right now and we just had a draft where we took 3 more players who play the same position as 3 of our top 4 picks in 2024 but somehow I’m saying that the 2024 draft class is good? Nope, the 2024 draft class was bad and our team is still in the low enough talent quadrant that lots of rookie contribute in our holes until we replace them. Been the same story since 2018 and accelerated as the old solid vets retired/move on.
