Shaq not close to the player Davis was

I agree...but how much impact did LK have on Davis's development--- Before LK and the 3 knee injuries, how good was Davis? Was his Pre-LK career much better than what Shaq has done?   I know I'm bordering on Blasphemy so I'm done with my "What if's"....

He was good (121 comb tackles and 3.5 sacks in 08) and on an upward trajectory.

Agreed, I don't know why I'm playing Devil's Advocate....but Davis had J. Beason beside him in 2008 didn't he?...ok I'll stop. Honestly TD is one of the the toughest players I ever saw play. He always was bringing it and it showed up on tape...Shaq doesn't have that regardless of who's back there with him (He did play with Luke and TD both for most of his career!)

I do think Shaq is a pretty good player, just not TD or Luke, and unfortunately not showing he is worth the big money Hurney gave him.

Yes.

TD in his first 6yrs had 3 INTs, 22 PDs, 8 FFs, 11 sacks, 392 tackles, 0 TDs.

Shaq has 1 INT, 17 PDs, 4 FFs, 9.5 sacks, 470 tackles, 1 TD.

TDSr was SPECIAL special. There's a reason he's a Ring of Honor lock. Shaq has been more than solid, but people will ALWAYS hate their favourite players' replacements. 😞

    • It's a combo really.  Canales and Bryce are both just not doing great.   Canales choices on the run game this season has lost us games.  Bryce still does a lot of bonehead stuff like not running it in for the TD.  But Canales not running the ball didn't really help open things up either.  Also the team just looks unprepared weekly.  That's on coaching.  I agree that he needs to be a HC or an OC and not both.  We need a real play caller in here.   I do agree, I'd like to see Canales with a QB that he feels fits his system more but even without that not running the ball is just crazy.
    • Maybe Canales is playing 3D chess. He's trying to show to the FO why picking up Bryce's 5th year option ain't a good idea.
    • Realistically, I would keep an eye on on O’Connell. Big and strong QB, with a powerful arm. Could be a cheap get. Looked rough in a shitty situation but started figuring it out with limited resources. I know Jones isn’t going anywhere but would be nice to get a crack at him, Lance, or Mills.    Hell I would even take Trubisky or Allen (part 2).
