Summary of Darnold's day

I have a lot more confidence in our WRs than I do in Sam Darnold. They may have had a rough day as a unit, but Moore and Anderson are proven NFL commodities. Marshall is a talented rookie. Smith is a promising rookie. If Darnold doesn't deliver this season, I highly doubt it'll be because of our WR corps.

Let’s not turn this thread into an OL thread, ha!

I wouldn’t classify this as a summary at all.  Were the incompletions simply closely contested?  Were they bad throws?  How many were indeed drops?  Was a majority of the incompletions on deep balls, or short and intermediate routes that are easier to connect on?  There’s a lot of info missing here.  Regardless, it’s practice.

In the actual Practice thread, I kept reading "Drop", "Drop", "Drop" with an occasional "misfire"(Overthrow).

But...interestingly enough...No INTs.  🤔

trade for watson

The guy who's about to be indicted by a grand jury while also being the subject of an FBI investigation and who would require crazy trade compensation to acquire?

Yeah, sure. I mean what could go wrong? 😕

It's more like a close practice...the offense was on the side of the field where few could see.

Those are all valid questions, just like, was there another option to throw to?

You can control a narrative when no one's looking and with that, it makes the preseason games very important, the eye test....beats whatever lie you trying to sell.

Seems the consensus now is that the issue was with receivers getting open and drops. That's going to happen some days.  There's hints some might not have put in the best effort today.

It's not all about Sam as coach only singled out receivers after saying the others practiced well.

How?!?!?

Were you at practice?  Do you know our offense and the calls like a coach would?  You realize how important it is for a receiver to run a precise route, yes?  A couple yards too short or a couple yards too long can make the pass look really wrong . . . and it may not be on the QB.

If the receivers were really at fault, he's placing the blame where it should fall.

Darnold will be judged on his performance in games that count.  Likewise will Matt Rhule.  Let's give them both the opportunity to play it out and see where we end up.  Knee jerk reactions like that aren't helpful.  Just like with Kyle Allen or TB5, you need more than just a few games of data to see the truth.

19-36, this is not great, I need my QB1 to be better.
