This is a bad comparison. The only reason their contract is that low is because they have so much dead money from their old contract that the new contract isn't paying them any new money. Anything less than their old contract dead money just offsets that amount. On the open market, if they were free agents, they would get a ton more (Tua easily $10-15 mil, Kyler $20-25 mil is my guess). Now the reality is, I don't think either of them would have looked at the Panthers as the ideal situation to rebuild their value. They basically have 1 year to show out and catapult that into a big contract in the 2027 offseason. So would I rather have Tua or Kyler as our backup for $1 million over Kenny Pickett? Does that really need an answer? Was there any realistic chance of that happening though? I don't see it. -
