Panthers trade for Gilmore

Horn didn't look bad, but wasn't a world beater by any stretch of the imagination. The three games he played were against two rookies making their first starts and a guy that was considered a reclamation project at best. All three were under heavy pressure and didn't have a lot of time to go through their progressions to look his way much. When thrown his way, he's had one PD(tied for 128th amongst active players) and been in on five tackles. Oh yeah, he's had a flag tossed against him and jumped in the way of a teammate to get the gimme INT. Not bad, shows promise, but still just a talented rookie starting his career.

If you want to say he is the best corner the Panthers have, then that is more an indictment that the others suck at their jobs than him being a lockdown corner. Which, is why he was drafted.

Never claimed anyone was a success yet. Early returns on Slater show he is promising just like Horn. Early returns on Christenson in the little game time he got weren't as good. Hopefully, he plays better if he gets to play this week.

Goodbye.

The same person who has been pounding the table about how our olinemen aren't as bad as they seem thinks Slater's quality play so far is a mirage. You cannot reason with that level of delusion.

You are the one posting things that don't exist, that only exist in your mind.  That is a delusion.

When the line plays poorly, I say that.

The reality is that you don't admit when the line plays well because it threatens your worldview.

Playing well and doing just enough to not lose us games against inferior competition are two different things. In the weeks leading up to our loss we had issues sustaining drives because of our offensive line. Remember that second half against the Jets? The best week we had was against the Saints and that was largely due to an epic performance by our defense. We almost let the Texans come back on us because we again struggled to sustain drives and they got beat 40 to nothing by the Bills last weekend. We still haven't seen a quality game from our offensive line yet. I'm still hoping it happens.

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
