All good points but may I also add that Mac isn’t lining up behind 4 turnstiles either.   If he was he might look similar to… Sam Darnold?

Much worse.

Look at the play from their center, I wish our OL was this nasty.

You clearly seem confused. No one is comparing them as QBs. I said we often undervalued Cam by only referring to his passing stats and not including his rushing stats. You did the same thing with Darnold in your attempt to discredit him. Any other comparison is in your head not what was posted.

You bring up a quarterback who hasn't suited up for this team in over two years but I'm the one confused? This our third attempt since then it's time to bring yourself into reality it's going to be 2022 in a few months. There is no need to get this defensive over some other teams draft failure who is clearly repeating the same errors here with a new staff and team.

Daniel Jones has a better passer rating than Darnold. His OC is Jason Garret and can you name one Giants receiver? These excuses are a joke.

Ah yes let's drag Newton into this again. One qb is a former mvp who has actually won something at the nfl level the other is a former bust in his fourth year who is still trying to shake the turnover prone label. Raise your expectations good grief.

Daniel jones has 4 passing tds, 2 rushing tds, 4 ints, and 2 lost fumbles. Are we winning more games with him? This is a terrible take, passer rating is not the end all be all.

Sam has 12 total TDs and 8 turnovers. That is a wash.

He has 1 weapon on offense. Lockup DJ Moore and the Offense cant move, it gets stifled. I dont see any QB that we had a shot at getting doing any better than Darnold has so far. We do not have a top 5 QB and had no shot at a top 5 QB.

I don't think that's fair.  He definitely could become as good as Matt Ryan, if New England builds around him the right way.

Will he reach that level?  Hard to say.  But I don't think his ceiling is capped as a non-mobile Alex Smith.  Especially since he's starting in a good situation right away, at least from a coaching standpoint.  Smith was an unanimous bust until Jim Harbaugh came to San Fran.

He doesn't have the deep ball that Ryan does, and I've never seen someone come into the NFL without a deep ball develop one over time.

A non-mobile Smith isn't a bad player by any means. He had KC in the playoffs like 4 straight years. Of course Jones with good coaching and system can have success. But he will never be an elite level QB. Just doesn't have the intangibles.

Jason Garret has been blasted over the years for his playcalling abilities he went from head coach of one of the sports most popular teams to coordinating for one of the worst and answering to a former special teams coach as his boss. Please don't even go there. Nobody said Darnold is the only problem but there's a reason you are running from discussing his 8 turnovers in our last three losses. Either address it or stop making excuses.

Im running from it? You are running from the terrible play calling and OL. I have already said in previous posts in other threads that Darnold has had some bad turnovers.

We could replace Darnold with any QB we had a realistic shot at getting and what would our record be?

We paid a 2nd for Darnold and he has been as good as any of the 1st round QBs this year that we could have gotten.

Who said anyone wants Daniel or Mac? The point is our FOURTH year quarterback is making the same bad decisions he has always made and despite other variables those mistakes are hurting our team even the head coach called him out for it. He needs to play better. If you are seriously downplaying those 8 turnovers you are simply delusional there is nothing more to say.

Nobody here has denied our oline troubles but there have been numerous times Sam has had opportunities and thrown ints at defenders in the numbers. Did Joe Brady throw those 7 picks? Is it Joe Brady's fault Sam with his arm talent is so useless with the deep ball? Passes sailing over receivers heads or out of bounds surely there is someone we can blame other than the qb.

How exactly are the turnovers being downplayed?

Are you downplaying Sam passer rating when Targeting Robby is less than 35? Yet we still have tons of plays with Robby as the #1 option. Are you downplaying that our interior OL is routinely rated in the 20-30s by PFF? How about that our #1 weapon on offense got hurt and the play caller cant adjust? How about the opposing teams knows our routes and formations by the 3rd quarter because Brady does not adjust?

I am not downplaying the turnovers, they suck.

Im not saying any of this, Sam has played poorly at times. The coaches said he was being treated as a rookie. Go yell at the coaches, not me.

Again you clearly are ranting and trying to.make up for your clearly biased attempt to discredit Darnold as many did Cam while he was here. There will be plenty of time to evaluate the season and decide what we do moving forward. Until then I am just going to enjoy this year and seeing what happens. I never have understood fans who bitch and complain about their team and stay fans.

WTF is that guy talking about speared him in the neck. If he got hit in the neck with hands there it clearly wasn't on purpose he was blocking him. Dirty is going low and the chop blocks. Hell next time that C should go low then.

But 100% if we had any OL with just a fraction of that dog in em we'd be in some good shape.

Lots of people these days have no idea how comparisons work. Education system needs a dramatic overhaul over here for these kids because that's a new thing that nonsense never used to happen.

Jones is just like Teddy, just less athletic. His ceiling is low, his arm is unimpressive but he is polished product and what you are seeing out of him in his rookie year is basically what you will ever see with him. Jones will get the same hype that Teddy did in his rookie year but I am still 100% happy we didn't spend a 1st on him after eating Teddy's dead money.

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
