O Line Talent Evaluation

ngl, I'm excited about being to evaluate the current OL talent. We've seen something like 7 or 8 different combinations this season so far.

We get to see if Elflein is going to be a viable option at center after Paradis, as well as getting Christensen more reps.

I'm low on Daley, but he's going to get a shot at LT which is always a hot topic of conversation.

Maybe we get lucky and Christensen shows promise. That would at least check LG & RT off of next season's needs. Maybe Deonte Brown comes back from injury and shows that he can be the anchor next season. That would put the team in a position similar to the Chiefs, Ravens, Rams, and Packers who have 3 (in the case of KC, 4) starters on rookie deals performing at a high level on their OLs. Should Christensen & Brown look like they can be our starting guards, then that gets us 2/3 of the way there!

One thing that it would also enable, is for the team to truly go BPA in the draft, especially if Elflein also shows that he can at least not be terrible at center.

The team could take a look at the OL prospects like Tyler Linderbaum, Evan Neal, and Kenyon Green or QBs such as Sam Howell, Spencer Rattler, and Carson Strong. Either way, this first round pick coming up is looking like they might be a major franchise cornerstone. Hopefully it works out well!

Even one of those moves would hold a drastic difference on our line. The whole Trey Smith falling in the draft was absurd to me and never understood why we didnt take him later in the draft.

Speculation: Smith was probably removed from our board entirely with a medical red flag.

It is probably partly evaluation but also a large part willingness.

With lineman, especially tackles you have to take your shots.  There are no sure things or every team in the league would have a good line.

Its a commitment to the O-line, often you have to pass on a player at a different position that has a higher grade.  In the last 10 years how many 1st and 2nd round picks have we used on O-line?

That is making something a priority or now.

Draft QB round 1. Thats what is going to happen. Rhule will be forced to keep Darnold due to contract and we will have to draft a QB. Thats what is going to happen even if we don't want it to because Rhule will be on the hot seat. It's why we need to start discussing this years QB class. Dan Morgan was just at Pitt this weekend watching Pickett.

I want someone big with the body of a big Ben, cam, Allen and I will be happy
