Naw not yet, let’s see him actually run a full game before we get to hasty.

we’re already going to have to send a pick to trade darnold I’m assuming rather than eating that 19mil hit, but Cam starting the next couple seasons while pj is backup and we draft a potential replacement doesn’t sound like a bad idea

Nah. Let’s wait awhile.

Cam wants to be here. He’ll work with the team in the offseason. If he shows he’s capable, sign him to a 2 year deal this offseason. I still want to bring in a successor

Since the moment we drafted Cam, some fans have thought he was going to flee at the first opportunity.  He never wanted to leave. He was forced out.  He never said the kinda stuff Smitty did after either, and while it was clear he was hurt (and I thought the bridge was burnt tbh), it is even more clear he wants to be here now in this situation.

Tbh, it is possible that decision to move on from him when we did made him an overall better player and leader, hard to say, but either way... It is clear he wants to be here now, and he is definitely wanted here.

All Cam needs to do is lead this team and he'll get paid for sure.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
