All these folks wanting to see Cam run a bunch of read option have clearly forgotten that this is a QB who hasn't had a fully healthy season since 2015.  I think you run just enough read option to force defenses to account for it, but not enough that Cam is getting hit.  You need to bubble wrap the only QB on your roster who has won significant games in the NFL, not subject him to a bunch of hits that other players could take.

You don't scheme to Cam, you scheme to your team.  We have good players in the skill positions and less talent in the line.  This is not the 2015 team where Cam has to carry us.  Cam just has to get us in the right play and distribute the ball to a very talented supporting cast.

First of all Cam ran more for NE last year than he did in 2015 and missed a game for Covid not injury. In fact it was his second highest total in his career. Second of course you scheme for the quarterback as well as the team.  If Cam has trouble with timing on 3 step drops you can start him in the shotgun to avoid the issue.   Or limit that route selection in favor of what he does well. If Cam throws a flat ball you may limit how many throws he makes on button hooks over the middle when it can be tipped more easily.  Maybe you focus on seam routes which he throws great or out routes but not 20 yarders given that gives the defense more time to defend the pass. You dont change the offense but you change the play selection and play calling based on what your guy can do. Brady said as much himself. He works with whoever the starter is to find out what plays they are most comfortable with and you build your gameplan around that.

So you dont know what they ran but it wasnt Erhart Perkins. Wow do you understand how stupid that sounds.  Clearly you dont understand much about schemes as seem to be confusing play calling and scheme which are not the same. Why not stick to what you know.

Lol your just copying what wiki says and when you actually look it up you had to get an article from 2020 with no current players. The patriots run what ever suits their roster at the time they have never stuck to one scene

A decent amount of what Norv and Chad were doing worked. Sometimes Cam would do the most or be pressured and make a bad decision. Honestly Brady needs to look back at the film from 2011-2012 and 2017 those were the most dynamic our offense has been. Some will say 2015 but that year it was an aberration on Shula's resume. He wasn't the reason for the offensive success Cam just did almost everything on offense that year and the defense gave us plenty of chances to win.

You have to be kidding me. We used to have actual football conversations where we talked scheme and coverages and anyone who knows anything about the Erhart Perkins system thinks automatically about New England given Charlie Weitz brought it there and is the example often cited as an NFL team who has been very successful for the past 20 years. You obviously confuse offense and defense talking about changing to fit the personnel.  NE is known to move players around and go with a 4-3 or 3-4 depending on personnel on defense.  The offense has always been the same with Brady and is the primary reason that Mac is there now. It requires a decent run game but a very good passing attack with accurate on time passing.  They adapted things to let Cam run more but it was the same system. Hopefully Cam learned some things from Belichick that he can apply here.

Weitz has zero influence of what the patriots ran with Cam 2021. They have never stuck to one specific scheme, matter of fact they have done the opposite of Erhart offense for a number of years. There were many years when they had a bottom tier run game, another year where they mainly attacked inside the numbers. Chris Simms who was actually in NE breakdown their offense basically calling it impossible to copy cause it has so much more nuances than any other offense.

You said you have no idea what they ran so please stop.  And show some articles proving your point. Otherwise you are failing in the breeze. I am done. After working all day wasting time with you aint it.

learning systems for the most part, unless you're from an NCAA school that didn't run pro formations, is being familiar enough with the verbiage and learning where everyone is going to be than it is learning entirely new plays and concepts. a veteran for as many years as cam has been in the league knows all the plays he's going to be asked to run. what he doesn't know is the verbiage, the cadence, the blocking schemes, how to direct his blockers pre snap, how to audible pre snap, what to call certain blitzes he spots, how to send particular players on hot routes, etc.

it's like someone saying he doesn't know how to play madden and then assign him random controls. he won't be comfortable with it, but once he figures out what moves what and which button does which desired thing he wants, it's still madden. it's still football. there's obviously a lot more nuance than that, but the premise is the same. they're not reteaching him how to play football.

Plus by the time you have made it to the NFL, you have likely been exposed to elements of all of this for a decade or more.

Everyone is gonna have an adjustment period but it isn't like taking The Golden Calf of Bristol and trying to make him a TE in Jacksonville. He had to learn EVERYTHING.

plus, as a rookie what you believe you do well doesn't matter so much to a coach. once you get to be a veteran like cam, you pretty much tell the coaching staff what you're comfortable running and they scheme it. rookies have to know more about the entire playbook because experience hasn't yet shown them their best throws or their most productive plays and their coach is going to be trying more things. cam is older than our OC isn't he? that's kind of funny. mostly, you're going to let the former league mvp have some input on what he's going to be doing out there. systems are a bit overrated in terms of difficulty to pick up in modern times. there's not a lot of innovation or deviation from what everyone else is doing.
