Well last night went well. Let's see if we can get over on Vancouver tonight. They're all healthy, we have some guys out. They're also pretty rested. They aren't world beaters but they're a good hockey team with fresher legs than we'll have. No lineups yet but I'm excited about this one after the other Carolina team absolutely ruined my day.

Bless you Canes, I need to get the horrors of the Panthers game out of my mind.

As @BlackPanther21_ mentioned, this is going to be a battle.

The Nucks have won 5 of their last 6 (and are 3-0 since their organizational changes) and will have rested legs.

To be honest, I’m not expecting to win this game. I think we’ll need to be pretty perfect and Raanta will have to be on his A game.

All I ask is that Aho extend his point streak. With 12 points in his last 5 games, he’s on a tear, another multi-point performance should get him first star of the week.

Aho better carry his point streak. Or everyone else better get a point.

Finally thankful for a late game, land in Boston at 9 and should be able to get settled for puck drop.

We have had a few bounces go our way the last couple nights and long may it continue, impressed with our depth with the guys that have come in as well.

let’s see if we still have legs left after last night, Jarvo to score tonight

Couple of tweaks to the lines and Raanta is confirmed in net tonight.

VANCOUVER, BC. - The Carolina Hurricanes will wrap up their Canadian swing this evening with a lineup similar to the one that has brought them success thus far on the trip.

Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour said Saturday morning that his goaltenders would be splitting the weekend and with Frederik Andersen having played and won last night, that means this evening it is Antti Raanta's crease. It will be Raanta's first start since last Saturday, when he stopped 32 of 34 en route to a victory over Buffalo.

He also said yesterday that there were a few game-time decisions, but everyone appeared to make it through last night's contest just fine. When asked today if he would have the same cast ready to go tonight, he shared that he does expect that to be the case.

The team's projected lineup for this evening against the Canucks is as follows:

Forwards:

Niederreiter - Aho - Teravainen

Svechnikov - Trocheck - Fast

Jarvis - Staal - Necas

Lorentz - Kotkaniemi - Stepan

Defensemen:

Slavin - Cole

Skjei - Chatfield

Smith - Bear

Starting Goalie:

Raanta

Scratches:

Tony DeAngelo (COVID-19 Travel Restrictions)

Brett Pesce (COVID-19 Travel Restrictions)

Max Lajoie

Perusing stats and I see that Nino has 9 points in his last 8 games and Turbo has 7 in his last 8.

Aho has 14 in his last 8.

I wonder when/if he’ll ever get respect being in a small market.

As of today, he’s in my top five center rankings for this year.

1. McDavid

2. Drai

3. Barkov

4. Mackinnon

5. Aho

6. Matthews

7. Stamkos

8. Tavares

9. Point

10. Kadri

Aho won't get respect from hockey media without a cup. Eric Staal barely did even with a cup and being from one of the bigger hockey families in Canada.

But the league already knows. Aho is undeniable.

Svech has to find his point production consistency. He could be a premiere winger but I fear he may be stuck as being just another really really good winger. Which I'm ok with but he could be more. Just want him to be a point per game guy.

Aho has pretty similar production to Barkov over his career, they are  close friends too (obviously). After all those years of the Canes and Panthers being afterthoughts, it’s a breath of fresh air to see small market Hockey teams in the south doing the well. Like the above poster said, he’ll need to win a cup to be considered a top player in the game.

Agreed.

It’s mind boggling to me that Matthews is rated so highly. Sure he scores… but he’s a +2… how are you a +2 while putting up 31 points… do you just not give a poo about defense? On the contrary our boy is a +12.

It is so nice to be excited about a Carolina team, and so difficult to think about our football team. Go Canes, and Hornets!

I watched about 10 minutes of the Panther game. Waste of time. I want to see Rodgers, Mahomes, Herbert, Josh Allen, Murray playing QB. That's fun to watch football.

    • I'm super excited about the guys we're getting back, and fortunately this year, outside of Robert Hunt, we haven't had any season-threatening injuries. Rico has earned the start, but I am excited to have both available.  The team is finally turning into the run-first team Canales said he wanted to be. As for JT Sanders, I think he has lost the most be being out. He is probably our best receiving TE, but with the emergence of Mitchell Evans & with him and Tommy Tremble both absolutely balling in run blocking, it will be hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm hoping Turk Wharton can help with our pass rush. We really havent gotten to see him much due to injuries, but we desperately need anyone to provide some pass rush juice, which is what he was brought to do. I'm the most excited about Jalen Coker returning. Theilen may have been the most clutch last year, but I've watched a lot of film, and Coker was the most consistent WR we had when he was out there last year.  I think he can be an ideal #2 to Tmac. While Coker doesn't have the raw athleticism XL does, his route running, savvy, and overall football IQ simply make him better.  I think with the fact Coker can play both outside and in the slot will give our pass game more versatility.  We have been running a lot of 2 TE sets, and I think Tmac & Coker should be the primary WRs for 12 personnel. The other WRs (XL, Tremayne, Renfrow, & Horn) all have roles, but I dont think any of them can fully replace what Coker can do. I do think Renfrow will be inactive this week if everyone is healthy bc of how valuable Tremayne is for ST and as a run blocker. So happy that we are playing meaningful football heading into November. We are still almost certainly a year away, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction
