Yes let's name the 1 example where that worked out. By the same reasoning let's draft a 6th round QB and hope we get Tom Brady...

Reality check..

Will Grier had a better college career then Pickett..

To be fair, Holgorsen's offense was a pass heavy, stat padding, non progressive scheme.  Neal Brown has had issues implementing an offense until this past season and Pickett had to grow and get good with NFL level pre-snap reads and adjustments.   It's actually another reason why I prefer him and Strong (along with Corral).  Combination of a lot of factors and what was asked of them.

You got to look at the mechanics, in-game awareness, ball placement, all factors and Pickett is on par with many top-10 prospects.  Honestly, a ot better than the likes of Bortles, Gabbert, Darnold, Locker, etc. Too many to name.  I can see him at minimum producing in the Cousins/Carr/Ryan type range.  Respect your opinion against him but I do see a lot of things to like even in being a one hit wonder per se.

You mothereffers have lost your mind picking this dude at 5.  Completely lost your mind.

Who's saying that? I'm offering him to the table for discussion and many to most are commenting on if it is viable or not.  No one is jumping up and down saying draft him.

There are plenty of folks on here wanting a qb over a lineman at 5/6.  Picket on here to me seems like the consensus top qb.  I am just putting 2and2 together.

This immobile nonathletic fool will be IR'd by week 6.

Here come the excuses.. If you have to talk yourself into a prospect and come up with reason why he isn't a "no questions" 1st round talent.. Why make him a top 5- 15 pick??

Clausen, had great mechanics.. Let that sit on your soul when using that as a point..

People on here acting like OL can’t be busts as well while we are rocking a 1st rounder in Erving who is replacing a former first rounder (several years later) Matt Kalil.  If we draft a top LT without trading down just know next season might look very similar to our past couple games (rookie LT playing solid, but teams just blitzing Darnold up the middle). I’m ok with us taking one, but the following year may be terrible. I really want a new coach and trade down….

I mean, Rhule would cause that but I don't see the arguments for why he is apparently a bad pick outside of pinning it against the need to build an OL.  That's what I'm getting at is, in stepping back, ignoring the noise and needs, what is he as a prospect? Or really any of these guys? Why are you classifying him as a "fool"?

And I'm a Hokie so hate when we draft WVU guys lol.

Since 2015 (the only year I started from) tackles selected from the top half of the draft rarely bust.  Most at the basic level are productive starters.  Some are pro bowl and a few are all pro.  You can look it up yourself.   Top rated tackles are as good as gold

I'm trying to discuss him, not just shun him and ridicule.  What's the excuse? I'm speaking to what scouts and websites are seeing in reviewing his play.

Not saying "fool" as a dummy just referring to this fool (who we are talking about)

IMO the bad pick argument comes from his previous 4 years of results.  Why did he skyrocket out of nowhere?

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
